Guest guest
Evening to All, Went back to see the Dr at Duke today and to get my mri results. This is what the Dr said: You have a very mild form of ACM, only a 3-4mm herniation, with minimal csf flow blockage, postierially. (sp???) Surgery is not optional, in my opinion-he said, and will need to check " it " again in year to see if anything has changed, and I will have to deal with my symptoms. He does not know where any of my symptoms are coming from, other than possibably: Spasmotic Torticollis, which he is recommending that I take Botox injections and is referring me to another Dr there at Duke for this. I mentioned to him that IF he had recommended surgery that I would have asked for a referral to NY to North Shore and Dr Milhorant. Boy I might as well have reached over and slapped him, he said, well if you want to keep going from Dr to Dr until you find one that wants to do this unnecessary surgery, go for it...and as far at Milhorant and North Shore is concerned, they are not as good as you think, even said that North Shore wasn;t even rated in the top 50 hospitals in the US!!!!!! and I won't even get into what he said about Dr Rosner, but he did call him a quack!!!!! He said if you were my sister, I would tell you the very same thing.... He said that if you want, I could refer you for a function test, so they can torture for 2 days, to see what level you can function at. I told him that trying to find a Dr that wants to cut into my spinal cord AND my brain was not the reason behind me going to him or any other of the drs I have seen. I was only trying to find a DR that knows enough about SM/ACM to be able to treat it... He did not want to hear anything I had to say, just sit there like a nice patient and let the big bad dr on the pedistal tell you what and how you need to do!!!! Well I think I have a new nickname for him: " AFLAC " and Oh by the way I found out that he is a NEUROSURGEN, NOT and neurologist. He did write a note that if I decided on a 2nd opionion, that he would refer me to North Shore.... So I am at a loss as to what to do. He did agree with the DR I was seeing in Greensboro about the 8 hour shifts, but anything else-forget it big time.... Let me ask a question please, lying down of course the herniation would not show up as bad as compared to a standing/sitting position...right? Is ther any test that determine that???? I was so upset, that I didn't even tell him about the " irritable bowel I have almost everyday... Well have better bring this to a close, as I have already taken my meds and they are kicking in big time... Any and all responses would be imendially helpful.... I would like to have more than 1 reply, it seems lately that certain ones get multiple replys...but I only get 1 or 2 to any messages I have posted recently...All suggestions and etc....wuld be greatly appreciated........... Gosh my meds certainly kicked in in a hurry...so here's: Wishing you easy days and mellow nites...
