Guest guest
Leigh, You can find out much about acidophilus on the web. For a summarized answer, your intestines have both good and bad bacteria. Some help you by keeping yeast (candida) from growing out of control in your system. Antibiotics don't know the difference between good and bad bacteria, so they kill off both. The yeast is the first to intestinal flora to reestablish itself and it can get out of control. When you get a yeast imbalance, it can cause all sorts of things like bad gas, yeast rash in the sensitive spots, vaginal yeast infection, oral thrush, and some even think psoriasis. Some kids/adults are prone to yeast infections, and I've read many on this site that tend to be b/c of the diet. By adding acidophilus/yogurt/probiotics, you can manage the overgrowth of yeast and replace/fortify the good bacteria. It's best to give between meals, and most acidophilus supplements have to be refrigerated. When we give to my little one, I open a capsule, give to her just prior to giving an in-between water, and that's it. Good luck, > Sorry to butt in, you guys, but what is the acidopholus for? I get that you give it because you're giving antibiotics, but what is the purpose? is on Keflex right now for a cold/cough/flu- like illness. He will be off of it on Monday. > Thanks! > Leigh > > Sign up for Internet Service under $10 dollars a month, at https://signup.mybluelight.com
