HI Carolyn,

How much did it cost out of pocket? I haven't checked with our insurance as

to weather or not they will cover it.

They still do take out-of-state patients as far as I know. They do

not take international patients, nor will they take someone who has

started the diet at another center and now needs help fine-tuning.

Call Pillas and explain your situation. The only glitch we had

was that our insurance company wouldn't cover it - our docs fought

them hard, but in the end, we paid out of pocket to go to Hopkins.

The insurance company refused because there are 2 keto centers in our

state (Florida) - however, we chose to pay and go to Hopkins because

neither our neuros nor Hopkins approved the 2 centers here. It was

worth every penny - our daughter has been seizure-free for 2 1/2

years and is now officially weaned from the diet! I highly recommend

Hopkins - they are very strict and very precise, and the dietician

was trained by the original keto dietician from the Charlie

Foundation's video - Millicent .

I know every state is different, but we all have some form of secondary

insurance available under Medicaid. It is not based on income but on our

children's disabilities. Seizure disorders alone will get them approved. In

Georgia, it is called a Deeming Waiver. Will secondery insurance cover the costs

for Hopkins?

Just thinking...
