New update on Cat

supportive.

I have great news they started weaning her off the vent today, she's

at 40% vent the rest is all her and the stats are still good. They

have backed off the anti biotics to another one, they are saving the

sipero (sp?) incase she gets fevers again but using a step down

antibiotic to knock the rest of this down. They are backing off the

steriods too. they finally found the magic rate that Cat will

digest her food after one of the nurses and i talked about her

eating and digestion habits when she is healty. they couldn't

figure out why she wasn't digesting right but it's because she

digest slowly normally (she's going for tests in the am to see what

is going on with that) We are shooting for tues-wens to get all of

the tubes out depends on how her stats stay So it's all good news

today.

, i know her mind is back with her when her first series of

questions for the day was about me and how i was doing and if i was

sick. That's Cat, she always takes care of everyone else. as for

confrontations with her family there really hasn't been any because

it's actually the nursing staff and Cat herself that have been

ending thier will to fight. when they are in there and Cat gets

upset the nurses have started saying to come get me they aren't

going to give her more sedation if i can calm her down first. And

our family dr actually wrote that in his notes that if i can calm

her down don't give her more sedation.

I didn't have to ask today's nurse about her stats because she was

watching her family like a hawk. She knows Cat's family from way

back and the troubles Cat has had with them before. she told me that

she is on for the next 3 days so Cat is safe and i could sleep in a

little if i wanted to, if Cat got upset she would bring a speaker

phone into the room for me to calm her down.

I did try to give her a pen today but she's still too tired or

sedated to hold it but i did tell her that she could write with her

finger on my hand and that seems to be working all right for now

until she gets stronger. she gets about halfway through and i can

guess what she wants/needs but i do have a pen with me all the time

just in case.

I talked to my mom who is enjoying the novel idea she is the cool

mom. and she said kill them with kindness but don't go out of my way

for them. i did exactly that today, i had caught all of her dr's

all day and i didn't have to drag them out to talk to her mom but i

did (since she doesn't seem to want to believe me). so i am going to

keep listening to my mommy *smirk*

BMW, Good girl, I am glad you are up to a smirk or two. Tell Cat we are behind her 100%, and know

she will recover and be happy again. You take care of YOU, so you can be there for her when she
