Guest guest
Robyn; We used apple juice in 's formula for carbs...MUCH (!!!) easier to stir in than Polycose (which we've used before for calorie boosting. I will stick with aj from now on, though!). Her keto formula was RCF, microlipid, and apple juice, which I shook together in a Rubbermaid pitcher. Foam settled in about 5 min., and then I measured out four meals for the day. Later I got brave and made 10-meal batches so I only had to measure every other day and a half. For calorie comparison, was at 1145Kcal/day at 44 lbs. This is 270Kcal MORE than she took daily pre-keto, because she lost so much weight when she initiated the keto diet. She had difficulty regaining it; it took nearly 2 years even at this boosted calorie level. Like Carlie Jae, she is not particularly active. She had one year seizure control on the diet followed by a year of increasing loss of control. We are now off the diet and back to 1000Kcal/day of Compleat Pediatric, along with unmeasured oral snacks (which probably add up to about 100-150Kcal)...and trying to get the VNS scheduled. Sigh. The Seattle folks can relate to that sigh, I'm sure. Enough said. Rose-Marie, mom to (age 8) Maple Valley, WA USA
