Guest guest
On occasion, it's both amusing and sad to hear the rationalizations and ridiculous arguments that some smokers attempt to use to somehow justify their selfishness and poor decision making.. but more often it just goes to show how delusional a mind can get by ingesting the poisonous chemicals in cigarette smoke. > Dear Chip, > I am sorry about your father, but your post about passive smoking > being harmful to others is false. Look, there's one now ! Unfortunately you are wrong. Sorry if this is a revelation to you. There are hundereds of studies and reports and clinical proof that second hand smoke it is indeed deadly. http://www.lungusa.org/tobacco/smosecondha.html > The media is full of a bunch of junk science because it is > politically correct to be " anti tobacco " . I didn't get my info from " the media " . I researched it myself. It's not " politically " correct, it's simply correct. Most of the smokers I've heard from are anti-tobacco. Not because they want to be politically correct, but because they are smart. > I may not know much about ACM but I do know a lot on the evils of >the anti-tobacco lobby What are the evils of the anti-tobacco lobby ? They have a conspiracy to prevent people from heart, throat, lung disease ? Smoking has *NO* benefits that outweigh the consequences. So far everything you've said has strengthened my argument. Some smokers understand the consequences of their actions and want to quit. Some understand, but are so addicted they aren't ready to quit. Some are delusional. Many of these people are my friends- and one is a family member. Even when a smoker doesn't smoke anywhere near a non-smoker, their poor decision to smoke still affects a lot of others. The ones who will take time off of work to visit them in the hospital. The ones who will be there to offer support instead of going to the Dairy Queen. The ones who will take time to make your family a dinner instead of spending that time with their kids laughing and playing. The ones who will attend the wake and funeral instead of going out on their boat. Unless you have no relatives, no family and no friends, smoking affects a lot of people around you. Accept your responsibility. Take the proper action. It's not too late. Chip I translate research documents from English to > Italian. The amount of junk science is amazing. watch out you coffee > drinkers the latest studies report caffeine causes cancer. Guest guest
To smoke is dangerous. But this discussion go to extremes. People who never smoke die in heartattacks and cancer too. And many smokers have a long healty life. My cousins husband have cancer and he never smoked. He hate smokers. One of my friends died in cerebral haemorrhage. She smoked, but that wasnt the reason. It was congenital defective there are many factors that affect our health, as radon, contraceptive pill, sunbathe, potato chips, stress, wrong food etc etc. That even effects our animals. One of my dog died in cirrhosis of the liver, he never drink alcohol. But he ate medication for hes epileptic attack. The plight of the modern man and dog is the biggest reason. My children dont have astma or allergy, and both me and my husband smoke.(My children hate our bad habit) But they have friends that have astma and allergy and their parents dont smoke. This friends cant visit us because we have 1 dog, 4 cats and one rabbit. I dont have the energy to vacum-clean every day. I am affraid that I maybe die in lungcancer one day, but I dont have hte energy to think about my bad habit right now. I am worried about my future. Im fat, really fat and my sympoms has not disappeared after my surgery. To die in a heartattack is a big risk for me because I am so fat. Im more concerned about my weight. So Im not motivated to stop smoke now. I quit smoking many times but every occasion my symptoms of whiplash and/or chiari grow. Many people here in Sweden uit moking and begin with moist snuff instead. (LOL) I tried that too. kikki in Sweden
Guest guest
--- Thank you I am new here still and the smoking topic was getting alittle out of hand. I would rather hear about who has smoke and has had surgery, or never smoke and has had surgery, or who needs help and ideas on quitting. All of your posts are good but we do need to get back to the chiari which for me is mine reason for being here. I need help with my chiari and if I do have surgery I really need your help. Thank you, juls In chiari@y..., Bleaueyes7@a... wrote: > > For the record: The Smoking Thread began because of the ill effects of > combining smoking and surgery which is indeed related to chiari.
