Guest guest
Kathy- I worked at several restaurants in my teenage years so I know exactly what you are talking about. I found that some restaurants have a separate water source but many have the same system as pizza hut. Just ask, or maybe order bottled water. Because we eat sugar in some sort or another, we may not be able to taste the small traces of sugar found in such a glass of water. I would suggest that you never assume. , mom to Ethan Water at restaurants We stopped at a Pizza Hut over the weekend & I asked for water for , my keto kid. The clerk told me that it is in the self-serve area with the other drinks. I couldn't find it, so she came to help me. She showed me that to get water, I had to hold a lever on the fruit punch down. The punch would clear out & it would eventually become water. Yikes!!! I know she thought I was a looney when I said " NO thanks " and marched to the bathroom to get water from the faucet. There is NO way I'm giving him water that flows through the same tubing as fruit punch. Then my stomach knotted up when I thought " maybe other restaurants use this same system. " What do you all think?? I always taste 's water before I give it to him (they've mixed up & gave him sprite before), but now I'm worried. Guest guest
Yeah, I've seen that in several places. Didn't think about it though. Thanks for pointing that out...though Tyler hasn't had any problems from that. Water at restaurants We stopped at a Pizza Hut over the weekend & I asked for water for , my keto kid. Guest guest
We were warned about this when we asked about having diet coke from Macs (our kiddie's hosp has a MacD's in the middle of it as a cafe...) and got told the same - that those machines they use have diff flavors etc going thru and we could never be 100% sure there was no crossover. Same with iced water from there. We still let him have both occasionally though, as I never really noticed any change in ketones or adverse effects, but the diet coke I limit amyway as it is not caffeine free, and he starts bouncing off the walls if he has very much of it.... If we go there as a family it is a treat for him to have a 'real' MacD's drink and we buy him a separate happy meal toy. If you child is very sensitive though, probably not a good idea..... ----- Original Message ----- > Yeah, I've seen that in several places.
