Guest guest
Hi, I'm new here. I experienced pancreatitis resulting from a ERCP procedure that was done on an out patient basis. I was hospitalized for 6 months and almost died. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I'm trying to find out how often it happens. I sure would appreciate any help. Thanks
Guest guest
It does happen. It has not happened to me to that extreme, but having an ERCP has resulted in myself having an acute attack. You can check out more story here. http://www.top5plus5.com/Pancreas/OUR%20STORIES/Marks%20Story.htm Also if you would like to add your story, please email it to me and I will be happy to add it. I hope this finds you and yours well Mark E. Armstrong www.top5plus5.com Oregon State Chapter Rep Pancreatitis Association, International 6 months in hospital > Hi, I'm new here. Guest guest
Hello kssnflower, my name is Terry, and I'm the state rep for Missouri on the PAI list. I am not aware that Kansas has a rep, so I wanted to be sure to introduce myself and offer whatever help that I might be able to offer in the meantime... and welcome you to our group! Your story is almost shocking to hear, I'm very sorry to hear that you have had to suffer so. You'll find a great deal many other stories on this list, told by some very interesting and wonderful folks - some are sad but most offer a great deal of hope as well! So I'm glad that you found us, and I hope that it won't take long for you to find some of that " hope " . This is a terrific group of people, and you will find that there are not many experiences that someone here has not been through or does not have some experience with, and this is a group that will jump to help when they're able. Please make yourself feel right at home... Feel free to start posting, asking questions, jumping in on conversations or offering your own experience. Each is welcome here so long as it's reasonably courteous. Haha... Okay, well it doesn't always even have to be that - but we do try. Please introduce yourself to us so that we have something to call you other than " kssnflower " - if you choose to, of course - and tell us a little more about yourself. I've been a member of this group for about six months now and couldn't even begin to tell you how much I've learned from this group, and how many times I've leaned on them for support. I'm very grateful for having happened across them. Welcome! Peace, Terry in KC << Hi, I'm new here. I experienced pancreatitis resulting from a ERCP procedure that was done on an out patient basis. Guest guest
Dear pontiacpower3, When you refer to " pancreatic fluid collections " , are you speaking about pseudocysts, or is that something else? Thank you, Terry << Hi finnigan59, Yes, the same happened to me at the hospital in Vincennes, IN. The doctor was a D.O. and not experienced enough to do the procedure - he could not put in a stint. As a result I now have three pancreatic fluid collections and have to have a CAT Scan every three or four months to see if they are getting bigger or smaller. So far no change, but it sure puts limits on your life and makes you feel terrible most of the time (and it gets expensive, even when you pay 20%). I didn't spend six months in the hospital, but my wife and I thought I might die. It took a good six months before I felt good enough to do anything and I still don't have an appetite and have to take enzymes (it's been three years). Most doctors say that if they operate they will have to take out my pancreas and I will be on enzymes and insulin the rest of my life, so far my insulin levels have been good so there is no thought of an operation. I hope you have better luck at finding answers and recovering than I have had. Do you mind telling us where you had your porcedure done? finnigin59 kssnflower@...> wrote: Hi, I'm new here. Guest guest
Terry, Yes, that is what I am talking about. For two years the doctor called them pseudocysts and then suddenly started calling them fluid collections. Confusing huh? roguekc@... wrote: Dear pontiacpower3, When you refer to " pancreatic fluid collections " , are you speaking about pseudocysts, or is that something else? Guest guest
Hi, wanted to welcome you to our group. I have had cases of pancreatitis after ERCP's, but mine usually only last a week or so and none so severe I almost died. But I know it can happen. Kimber -- Kimber hominid2@... Guest guest
Hi I am like you almost died in hospital I spent 6 months in and out of hospital on feeding tubes fentanyl with exploratory surgery etc. They released me with a trolley I hated it wheeling it around 18 hours a day I have had numerous procedure in the last close on 3 years and still have pain although I have found that antixidants and a tens unit have helped me immensely. I am on a variety of meds but still have pain worse if I sit for long as well. If i didnt have to eat take a tablet then maybe I wouldnt get pain even tablets cause me pain and they are painkillers. Only probable solution is goign back on a feeding tube but even then I need painkillers I was taking 24 ultram on a gooday and still bad pain. I am back att work and I find that keeping busy seems to help but I still tire and have to take it easy stress makes me worse I hope you are feeling a little better now and welcome you here Debs from New Zealand- -- In pancreatitis@y..., " finnigin59 " wrote: > Hi, I'm new here.
