Guest guest
Good luck! Hopefully the low ratio and dose of trileptal are the trick! -mom to langansmom tuckerwing@...> wrote: Hello all. Langan has started to show signs of being acidotic AGAIN, so we are dropping the ratio again, to 2:1. I just got the menus and I can't believe how much fruit she'll get now! This may be more than she ate BEFORE keto!! We are still on a small dose of trileptal (75 mg 2X a day) and the neuro has agreed to keep her on that dose and see how things go with the lower ratio. We are a bit terrified b/c we haven't seen a seizure in 12 days and we hate to change anything- if it ain't broke, don't fix it....- but the acidosis is just too dangerous so here we go. Wish us luck! I know Langan will be a happy camper with all this fruit. I just hope she can be a SEIZURE-FREE happy camper. = ) , mom to Langan, 2 yrs old and keto kid since 11/03; med free 4/2/04 until 8/04; weaning from keto due to metabolic acidosis, and currently on small dose of trileptal and doing well. Guest guest
, So sorry to hear about the acidosis returning, even on the lower ratio.. Could it just be a cyclical thing? Something relatively independent of the diet? I'm so hoping the seizures remain under control on the lower ratio, that would be great news--more fruit and still no seizures. I am really, really pulling for Langan! And the fruit is so good this time of year. Ethan's calories were increased this week. I celebrated by buying some beautiful bing cherries, hoping he could get four or five. He got two. I hope the lower ratio stops this latest round of acidosis. Gretchen > Hello all.
