Guest guest
Well, over the past few weeks we have dropped dear down from 1200calories and 4:1 ratio to 900 at 3:1 ratio. The last drop was started at dinner last night. Her ketones are crazy high with the drop, and instead of giving her the usual apple juice in water to bring them down I opted for a bit of nectarine. It seemed to settle her. To counter the high ketones I am dropping her ratio to 2.5 : 1 to see what happens. I hate to drop calories and ratio at the same time, but the ketones are whacking her and she cries and cries, must just feel awful, and her language skills are not such that she can tell me what is wrong. I am constantly checking urine ketones, as don't want her out of ketosis, but think that if things continue like today 2.5 may be her ratio for some time. They are still really high on 2.5:1!!!! Maybe lower???? She has bloodwork done later this month, or should I get it sooner? Any ideas? She has only been on the diet since May and began at 4:1 ratio. I thought 2.5:1 was a weaning ratio. What would be my other options? Thanks, .
