Dear Hallie,

I first saw the film " First Do No Harm " on TV, in the UK, since then I've

obtained a DVD of the same title.

Principally the most important thing I like about the film is regarding

" people-awareness " , like you may know, there's still many barriers to break

down with the public at large. In the introduction of the film it's announced

that " Although fictionalised this film is based on a true story " , take from

that what you will. There's not a great deal of substance regarding the

ketogenic diet in the film's content, only to leave you with the result that

Robbie, the character with epilepsy, had become seizure free after enrolling

in the ketogenic diet.

The medical establishment are always too quick to settle for drugs as the easy

solution for most conditions, it's films like this that make some question

whether drugs are simply the only answer. I think the message is starting sink

in with some medical departments within the UK, we've some way to go to catch

up with the coverage the ketogenic diet receives within the USA.

Best wishes,

Phil

First Do No Harm

I just ordered the book, " First Do No Harm " , from Amazon.com. It is supposed

to be a movie about a seizure victom and the ketogenic diet. Have any of you

seen it?

Meryl Streep is in it. Supposed to be a true story.

I own the movie, wish i would have seen it before the baby started having

seizures, would have avoided so much suffering. Would have been more

educated about it all without the turmoil.

Touched home.

Thank You & God Bless,

I have seen it - actually have a copy here. It is a great movie. One I can't

bring myself to watch again tho. Just kept saying to myself over and over again

- without the diet, that would be MY son! Make sure you have lots of kleenex

around.

The movie is great to show the relatives as well (especially grandparents) While

they may not understand the complicated mathematics of the diet, the movie does

a good job illustrating what a difference going Keto can do.

Phil,

I know I was not aware of any of this until my little grandson came down with

seizures last year and lost his speech this May after quite a few seizures. We

were running out of options. Each med he took would be good for a couple of

weeks and then not work. Finally he was on 4 meds and diazapam for emergencys.

The diazapam had to be given every day right before he went into the hospital

to start the diet. And it still wasn't controlling the seizures so the Doctor

added dilantin. About the only thing we hadn't tried were the steroids and

surgery.

I am just so thankful that the diet is working for our little guy and hope it

keeps on. He is smiling now and he was only looking sad all the time before.

Best Wishes to you too,

Hallie
