A camera case.

I bought one that had a shoulder strap. It's padded, small -- would fit 2

instamatics or a 35 mm. Not a big one intended for a bunch of lenses or gear.

It was bright blue, so it was easily seen. For Ian (or ) they do best

when things have straps so they can hang it on their bodies, not just hold in

their hands. Things get set on the bus floor and kicked, or sat on the seat

and then forgotten as they gather their junk. With the long strap we could

adjust it to be worn across the body (over the head with one arm through) not

just on the shoulder like a purse.

Our phonak FM system for the freedom came with a hard sided case. Maybe phonak

makes a special case for your system also?

case for FM system

We have a personal FM system, a Phonak system. I'm trying to figure out a

good sort of case to send it to preschool in.

Right now, we are using the cardboard box that it came in, but the box is

falling apart. I don't feel like it is very

secure. The case needs to be padded or protective, and it should hold the

piece with the mike that the teacher

wears, including the neckloop. I was thinking maybe a soft PDA or iPod case.

The preschool teacher is afraid that

is too small and easily lost, though. What do you guys use?

Our system came with a case, but once we put all the pieces together, it

no longer fits. The pieces have to be disassembled to fit, and we don't

want the teachers to have to deal with that.

You might check the gaming supply isle. Perhaps a small box designed

to hold a game boy and accessories. Usually padded, but that could

be added, but with a secure latch and usually a carrying strap.

They seem to be the size of a pencil box or so. Just an idea that

popped in my head based on my extensive experience with a committed

gamer and all his gear.

Hey Bonnie,

Are you talking about the FM itself? Just the receiver? Or everything?

We have a Phonak Smartlink. (Or is it Microlink...the school has one, and we

have the other. Ours is kind of a cell phone shape, rectangular, slim, but

theirs is more boxy. I'm too lazy to get up and look top see which one we

have.) It only matters because if you are a talking about the receiver only,

ours came with a case you can hook onto the belt of your pants, but the stupid

thing is too short and won't aften closed when you attach the bottom part that

lets you attach the cord that you can wear the receiver around your neck. And

why is that important? Because without the antenae that is built into that cord

which you plugged into the receiver, you might as well throw it out. It is full

of static. Dumb design.

Anyway, if you are talking about carrying everythying, mic, receiver, boots,

etc., then we initially used a lunch box that was aluminum so it couldn't get

crushed as easily,. and got some foam packing material and we glued it to

the inside of the box. That way everything stays together, there's plenty of

room, it has the Cars thing on the front (Bobby picked it out which is even

better) and it has a handle. With the foam it was padded well too.

After we went to the AG Bell conference this summer, we brought home a bunch of

Oticon cases which are also a lunchbox size, but sturdy and soft at the same

time. Every time we'd pass the Oticon table in the exhibit area, they were

throwing another one in our hands. So now we use that most of the time. I have

extras if you want one, I can bring it with me on the 18 when we meet at the

aquarium. (You have to remeind me though. I can't remember anything these

days...) I kind of like that it says Oticon on it because it doesn't look like

a ordinary lunch box and hopefully wound't be thrown in the lost and found.

(Not that anyone knows what Oticon is.) It's not ugly, though, either.

If you have extras, I would definitely take one. Elias's hearing aid case

says

Oticon on it, so having a match would be useful from the perspective of

making

sure school personnel understand what this is. I would be very leey of a

lunchbox, because a sub might not understand the importance of it.

I don't know the terminology. I am talking about the green box that hangs

on the neckloop wiith the mike attached. When we put the neckloop on,

and assembled everything, it no longer fit in the teeny hard case that

came with it. Yes, I would like to put the boots in there too, although they

can also fit in the hearing aid case. Ideally, it would be nice to put

everythng in one case though.

Yea, this box (case) is so big (but not bigger than an ordinary lunch box) that

it has room for my stethoscope, the FM stuff, batteries, a case to put the boots

in, the boom mike (which isn't small) and whatever else I need to put in there

to make it all work and keep it in one place. Plus it is made of bright colors,

so it stands out from under all the junk I have on the kitchen counter, so I

don't lose it. Sure, I'll give it to you on the 18th. Um, that is if I survive

the marathon. :)
