Guest guest
Hey Leanne, I believe most people have turkey, ham or prime rib for the main course. My family starts off with escarole soup, then shrimp cocktail, then have honey baked ham, homemade ravioli, steamed broccoli, coleslaw and rolls for the main course. Dessert is apple, pumpkin and lemon meringue pie plus Italian creme cake, then out comes fruit, cheese, chocolate candies and Christmas cookies (which are around the house all day long.) There are sometimes a few variations here and there, but that is basically what I've had for Christmas dinner my whole life. When I was little, we used to do the " Seven Fishes " dinner on Christmas Eve. I think it's an old Italian tradition and I don't even remember what it included now. But now on CE, we usually have shellfish like lobster, crab imperial, clams casino and oysters rockafeller, with light veggies, Christmas cookies and other sweets. Years ago, my uncle used to make stromboli for an appetizer on Christmas Eve as well. Yum Yum YUM! Since we're not going home until the Monday after Christmas, my hubby and I will be by ourselves and have pared down our menu. Here it is: Christmas Eve: melon salad with sharp cheese, broiled flounder, steamed green beans, ceasar salad, cornbread and strawberry cheesecake for dessert. Christmas: escarole soup, shrimp, ham, steamed broccoli, and ravioli, and Italian creme cake for dessert. Ugh. I can feel the pounds already. Autumn > What other traditions do you guys do for Christmas? What kinds of foods do you eat for Christmas dinner? Just curious........... ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Surf the web up to FIVE TIMES FASTER! Guest guest
Wow Autumn... are you doing all the cooking while you and your hubby spend Christmas day together. Sounds like you have a full day and the menu sounds great. athdesign@... wrote:
