Guest guest
Hi there, We found out today that Elliot has Chicken Pox. He was supposed to have the vaccine at his 12 month well being check up but there is a national shortage and he has to wait until they get the supply. The doctor told us today that he is 90% sure that it is chicken pox. Since they so rarely see it (because of immunizations) he called in his colleague to take a look...she was pretty sure too. Any advise would be appreciated. Mom to Elliot 12 months wcf
Guest guest
Grandmom Bev, I asked the doctor and he said there wasn't anything to give him. Maybe some Calomine over the spots and a bath with Aveeno. Was it a perscription medication you gave them? Thanks, Mom to Elliot 12 mths wcf
Guest guest
They have a medication they take and then the itch will go away. Stay out of the bright sun (in winter , that's easy up north ).Otherwise, my grandkids(including with CF, just did normal . played , etc.We wanted them all to get at same time , while young to get it over with and from each other with same dna, etc. siblings-cousins. It worked fine---But that was along time ago, I am sure they must have some other ideas too. I know that the med was great.no itch and it was all out in a day......... Guest guest
, My kids both recently had the chicken pox. They were started on Acyclovir, which is an antiviral medication. It is prescription and needs to be started as soon as possible after you see the first pox. I feel it was very beneficial in the severity and duration of the pox. Guest guest
Thanks to all for your Chicken Pox responses. I have called the cf clinic and they are checking to see if they still give Acyclovir. The nurse will call back later. Guest guest
The other med that was given was ZOVIRAX. Ask about both. They can call any ped. Doc.not pulm / ped . I would have thought the other one would have know this. It isn't new. We used 15 years ago and it is still used today. Good luck, LOVE & HUGS, Grand momBEV Re: chicken pox Thanks to all for your Chicken Pox responses. I have called the cf clinic and they are checking to see if they still give Acyclovir. Guest guest
When my dad gets poison ivy (almost every summer)he makes his own anti ich stuff. He uses dry baby oatmeal, powdered up tylenol, and cortizone cream with aloe. He mixes it with water until it is a thick wet paste. He spakles it on and waits for it to dry and then he takes a shower and does it all over again. I am pretty sure this will help those itchy chicken pox as well.
