Guest guest
We live in Louisville, and I can give you some information for this area. Contact the Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs (http://chfs.ky.gov/ccshcn/). Their main office is in Louisville, but I think they have satellite services to other parts of the state. At the very least, they should be able to refer you to something local if you aren't in or near Louisville. They provide a lot of testing and services on a sliding scale basis, based on family income. Even though both DH and I work full-time, and don't qualify for financial assistance, we were able to get hearing aids at cost through the CCSHCN office. They also gave us extension options of looking at genetic problems, and sensory issues, as well as the hearing and ENT evaluations. There is also the Heuser Hearing Institute (http://www.thehearinginstitute.org). I have no experience with them myself, but they do offer a wide range of hearing-related services. This site has been VERY interesting and I was especially made curious when I began reading about all the programs for financial assistance in different states. I know that we would not be eligible for SSI or Medicaid since we own our own business. However, I was wondering if anyone on this site lived in Kentucky and was aware of any programs that helped with extra expenses, such as hearing aid batteries, ENT visits, ect.
