OOH, I'm so sorry. I once knew a guy who used to be on heroin and he said ciggs were harder to kick than that!!!

I quit smoking at the age of 25 or 26 so I smoked about 10 years. It wasn't real hard for me as I was a light smoker. I smoked about a pack a week. A while after I quit I couldn't stand the smell. I hate it even worse now! I can't believe how bad I used to stink and didn't know it. I would bath and put on perfume and think I smelled nice. I'll tell you the truth,

if you smoke, I can smell you and you stink. It makes your breath stink too. No offence intended, it's just the facts.

I lost a job many years ago because there was so much smoke in the building that you

could see a haze in the air. I got a real bad infection and developed an allergy to

tobacco smoke. My whole face swelled up and my eyes felt like burning coals. It

was in my sinuses and then my chest. I started to go into pneumonia and my Dr. said

if I didn't get out he would put me in the hospital. A new girl came to work one day and

was at the desk next to me. I introduced myself and she said she wasn't new but she

had just gotten out of the hospital with pneumonia. She said she got sick ever since

she started working there and was kind of new on the job. I asked her if she smoked

and she said no and the smoke was bothering her.

Since then I have been highly allergic to smoke and I can smell it a mile away!

When my daughter lived in Winston-Salem NC (ciggie capital) she got real sick from

smoke on her job and had to quit too. She is also highly allergic. She is allergic

to many things.

Thank God things have changed in this state and people don't have to go through that

anymore. In California we have strict anti-smoking laws.

You are not allowed to smoke in any public building, at any job, at

any bar, at any restaurant, and if you smoke outside of a Govt. owned building you

have to be several feet away from the doors. (I don't remember how many feet).

A lot of people have been able to quit smoking because of the inconvenience of it.

Smokers on the job have to stand outside in bad weather on their break time &

get their fix in 15 minutes.

Before the laws were implemented the restaurateurs

said they would be forced out of business if smokers couldn't smoke. Just the

opposite happened. People like my husband and I who had to stay away started

going and they increased their businesses. Even the bars are still packed and

when people need a smoke, they go outside. All the restaurants are jammed packed!

I hear New York is trying to do the same and they are getting the same arguments

that we had about it.

We are so spoiled that we don't like to visit out of state. Nevada is horrible for

smoke! We are going to Vegas on our anniversary in a couple of weeks. They have

non-smoking sections in restaurants but lets face it, the smoke doesn't stay on one side

of the room for goodness sake.

Well, that's my gripe about smoking.

I gotta admit I'm a bad girl, too!.......I've smoked since I was a teenager, and I'm now 60 yrs old.........I quit several times a day!!......I have gone from a pack and a half a day down to 3 or 6 `ciggies' a day.

The wierd thing about me is that I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke either since the Lupus.....everyone knows not to smoke in my house.!!

When I smoke ........I put on a` Smoker's shirt' over my clothes, and stand at the patio door and blow the smoke outside.....Then I have to brush my teeth.....wash my face and hands......and throw the `Smoker shirt ' in the dryer with a `Bounce ' to get the smell out............Yet still I gotta have my nicotine `fix' a few times a day........

I never claimed to be `Sane"!.......go figure.....
