Guest guest
It was kinda getting easier leaving my kid behind when I went to visit. I only cried for about seventy five miles this time. Me and my youngest daughter got used to 21 hour drives...it was kinda of an outing for us...although I never let her drive as I was scared...the last time we went, we outran a snow storm... Well Easter time was upon us....but on March 7th of that year, I got a surprising phone call from my navy kid....She called and wanted to know where I was. I told her I was on the way to North La. to watch her sister cheer at her university's first playoff game in basketball that year...I asked her what she was doing...she told me SHE JUST GOT MARRIED..MARRIED...I ran off the road...I had to stop...I asked her who did she marry as I did not even know she had a boyfriend....she told me she married a " yankee " from Ohio that was a gunner like her...to say I was surprised was putting it mildly...now I had to break the news to her sister who was scared to death to cheer cause it was a nationally televised game....her fear turn to disbelief when I told her she had a brother in law....she cheered like she never cheered before...hehe... I got to meet my son in law for Easter...they were in the same barracks but on different floors....I drove up and my daughter came running with this red headed sailor following her...he said... " Hi mom " ...he is a delight... We spent the weekend together and when I left her to return home this time....I cried...but not as much as I knew she had someone over there for her that would take care of her...her husband... Installment three to follow....chippy
