Guest guest
Hi all,My daughter is responding well to the SCD-Better form and only going once a day-but still alot of blood it seems.Shes getting aches in her joints-a good sign?(she has UC,diag in '99 and is on flagyl and 6MP,she is 13.)We started the diet 2 wks ago. My brother's 15 yo son has ADD,is taking conserta and just had a seizure(1st time ever-a gran mal)He has been on this med for 2 yrs.The a.m. of the seizure he had a headache and nausea, took Advil, skipped breakfast and went to school. He had a mild seizure in class while watching a video, then hours later in the hospital while again watching a video he had the big one.Docs did EEG,MRI,and various blood tests and all were normal.I was wondering if there might be a connection between the conserta and the seizures and if the SCD would help his ADD?Thanks, Margaret-mom of (UC 6yrs,Flagyl 6MP Multi-vit,B12 sup, iron sup)
Guest guest
hi margaret, i cant answer your questions but i have heard about seizures being related to video and tv watching. not sure if it is true but worth looking into donna > Hi all,My daughter is responding well to the SCD-Better form and only > going once a day-but still alot of blood it seems.Shes getting aches > in her joints-a good sign?(she has UC,diag in '99 and is on flagyl and > 6MP,she is 13.)We started the diet 2 wks ago. > My brother's 15 yo son has ADD,is taking conserta and just had a > seizure(1st time ever-a gran mal)He has been on this med for 2 yrs.The > a.m. of the seizure he had a headache and nausea, took Advil, skipped > breakfast and went to school. He had a mild seizure in class while > watching a video, then hours later in the hospital while again watching > a video he had the big one.Docs did EEG,MRI,and various blood tests > and all were normal.I was wondering if there might be a connection > between the conserta and the seizures and if the SCD would help his > ADD?Thanks, > Margaret-mom of (UC 6yrs,Flagyl 6MP Multi-vit,B12 sup, iron sup)
Guest guest
Hi Margaret- When your nephew had the grand mal seizure in the hospital - do you know if he had recently eaten? Like in the past 2-3 hours prior to having the seizure? If he had NOT eaten, I'd check his blood glucose level. Seizures are often triggered by low blood sugar. It was the first thing I thought of when you said he skipped b'fast and had the seizure at school. Seizures can certainly be caused by videos (flashing lights, pixels) - but if he hasn't had one prior to now - I'd look into low blood sugar. Dr.s do not think of this - if it happens again, pay close attention to what he has eaten and how long ago. Hopefully, this won't happen again! (mom to - 3yrs. old - epilepsy - BIG trigger - low blood sugar) cookingwoman79 writeme79@...> wrote: hi margaret, i cant answer your questions but i have heard about seizures being related to video and tv watching. not sure if it is true but worth looking into donna > Hi all,My daughter is responding well to the SCD-Better form and only > going once a day-but still alot of blood it seems.Shes getting aches > in her joints-a good sign?(she has UC,diag in '99 and is on flagyl and > 6MP,she is 13.)We started the diet 2 wks ago. > My brother's 15 yo son has ADD,is taking conserta and just had a > seizure(1st time ever-a gran mal)He has been on this med for 2 yrs.The > a.m. of the seizure he had a headache and nausea, took Advil, skipped > breakfast and went to school. He had a mild seizure in class while > watching a video, then hours later in the hospital while again watching > a video he had the big one.Docs did EEG,MRI,and various blood tests > and all were normal.I was wondering if there might be a connection > between the conserta and the seizures and if the SCD would help his > ADD?Thanks, > Margaret-mom of (UC 6yrs,Flagyl 6MP Multi-vit,B12 sup, iron sup) For information on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, please read the book _Breaking the Vicious Cycle_ by Elaine Gottschall and read the following websites: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info and http://www.pecanbread.com ---------------------------------
Guest guest
yes, this is true. our son has a seizure disorder and our neurologist told us specifically about this. it is due to the flickering light. " snow " on t.v. can also have the same effect. karla, mom to jake. > >> >> > _________________________________________________________________ Take advantage of powerful junk e-mail filters built on patented Microsoft® SmartScreen Technology. http://join.msn.com/?pgmarket=en-ca&page=byoa/prem&xAPID=1994&DI=1034&SU=http://\ hotmail.com/enca&HL=Market_MSNIS_Taglines Start enjoying all the benefits of MSN® Premium right now and get the first two months FREE*.
