Guest guest
Hello everyone. My name's Kathleen and though I've never posted here before, this thread caught my attention. When I was 12 (I'm 21 now), I had decompression surgery, about a week later I developed hydrocephalus (sp?) and had to have a shunt put in. Though I had the surgeries, my symptoms never really stopped. I still have the violent 30 second migrains whenever I laugh a lot or don't get enough sleep and still loose feeling in my fingers and feet sometimes. I've talked to the neurosurgeon who performed my surgeries, and he says that it's nothing to worry about, for some people the headaches never go away. I have since seen another doctor and he told me that I have excessive scar tissue and that I need another decompression. I don't mind admitting that the thought terrifies me, but I don't know what to do. Has anyone been through something like this or have any suggestions about what I should do? Guest guest
Kathleen, I know there are people in this group that have had more than one decompression. Maybe you should get another opinion and that may help you feel a little more comfortable with your decision, whatever that may be. I don't blame you for being scared. It is a totally normal reaction to all of this. Please don't rush into anything, tho. Try to see another NSG first and she what he/she has to say. Please let us know what you decide and what the outcome is. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Take Care!!!! Sheila
