Most of the congressmen have local offices all around their state. Maybe the county seats? Here, ours is in the county courthouse. He's not there, but he has staff there that report directly to him. The office manager/personal secretary started checking on the case. Then, we found out that he was going to be in this area for a local "constituents day". We went, signed the waiting list & sat for about 2-3hrs for our turn. BUT, we did get a private, one-on-one interview with Congressman Duncan. He was not to pleased with the way the case had been handled & in fact, told us that the SSD offices are not overwhelmed, that they make it look that way to get more funding for nicer offices & other perks. Those were his exact words! And he took care of it.

You could start by calling your local courthouse. Any office there should be able to steer you in the right direction. I mean, our local Social Security Office advised us to contact our congressman. That says something to me! They should know where the office would be also.

I have a very dear friend I've know since first grade. She's been sick with lupus for 22yrs. She has nearly died more times than I can count. Her fingers are so deformed now she can barely open her pill bottles. There isn't enough room to list all her ailments because of the lupus. She finally got on SSI last year! And you would not believe the battle she had to get it. Nothing with them is cut & dried.

You just can't give up. Make copies of everything you send them or they send you. And don't stop calling them asking questions!

Good luck,

I wouldn't know where to contact a Congressman around here though. Where should I go if it gets to that point?
