I give my son Bcomplex and calcium and magnesium citrate. I believe the

magnesium and calcium help him with his immunity. He had severe asthma 1 1/2

years ago, and pneumonia 2 1/2 years ago. Now we don't have to use his inhaler

much at all. I do the Bcomplex hoping to catch all his B deficiencies. He is

finally starting to learn with the help of a private tutor. I think the

supplements help him to stay focused for 2 hours of tutoring at a time. We had

a problem with teachers letting him do nothing all day at school, because they

thought he was getting frustrated.

Hello everyone:

I was wondering if any parents on here have supplemented with Vitamin

B6 and magnesium for apraxia. If so what changes did you see?

Thanks

Parent reports also include: improvements in attention, learning,

speech/language, and eye contact

Perhaps a better question is who on here is using Kirkman multi-

vitamins? And what improvements have you seen since you started?

I give both, and have for several years. I didn't specifically start

b6 or mag for apraxia (more because it is recommended for autism), and

I can't say if either had a direct impact on language. My kids have

improved dramatically over the past 3 years, but I use other

supplements, dietary restrictions, etc. - I didn't add b6 or mag in

isolation.

B6 is important for the folate cycle. My kids both have abnormally low

levels of both b6 and mag without supplementation. Calcium and

magnesium can be calming. I would give some calcium along with magnesium.

Improving your child's nutritional status can potentially improve

symptoms, and of course a healthy child is better able to learn and

focus. Many children with autism are helped by b6 and magnesium. If

you go to the Autism Research Institute's webpage, I believe there is

a report from Dr. Rimland about his son's dramatic response to high

dose vitamin B6.

Hi Jule,

What doses are you giving your son?

-Jenn M.

Re: [ ] vitamin B6 and magnesium?

I see amazing calmness and my son does so well with these two things. When I

stop them, he does not do nearly as well.

I had a similar experience. Years ago I read a book by Bock

called something like " Treating Your Child's Asthma Naturally " . I

started some of this supplement suggestions, including B6, and in

three months my son was off all his asthma meds and doing fine. He

hasn't had an asthma attack in 3 years.
