Guest guest
Someone had asked what the upper limits are for melatonin. According to Dr. LaJoie out of the NYU Epilepsy Center, you can go up to 10mg safely. Here is a link to an article she has published: http://www.nyuepilepsy.org/cec/images/melatoninarticle.pdf Our neurologist recommended we put our daughter on melatonin to help her fall asleep more quickly, since that state of " hovering " between awake and asleep lowers her seizure threshold. We have not needed to go beyond 2mg with her for encouraging good sleep routines. We have never tried using melatonin related to seizure control otherwise, as described in the article above. I personally would feel uncomfortable using such large doses without a doctor's supervision, chicken that I am. But maybe that helps with question of upper limits on dosing. -- Rose-Marie, mom to , age 8, Maple Valley, WA USA
