Guest guest
I'm not a huge fan nor a frequent consumer of Mc's fare. But I do confess to relying on their existence for quick sustenance for my troops. For about a year now, I've been relying on the Fruit and Yogurt salad, " Hold the walnuts " . (The walnuts are coated with gratuitous gluten.) It looked like this: http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:3B5plxkBAWeuzM:http://photos1.blogger.com/\ img/129/3326/1024/Fruit%2520%26%2520Walnut%2520Salad.jpg Today hubby fetched a quick dinner at McD's. I ordered my F&Y salad. Alas, it no longer seems safe to me!! It's in a whole new packaging with a three part holder, all sealed with one cover. Fruit in one section, yogurt in a second, and walnuts with gratuitous gluten in the third. I cannot find a picture of it on the McD web site. It's so new that they haven't even put it on their web? It's newer than the " our salads don't contain spinach " news? Perhaps I'm in a test market. In any case, I cannot imagine how this item is safe for me nowadays. No matter which order they put the items into the tray, they are done at very high speed by machines. I can't believe there's any way that the fruit and yogurt would be safe from gratuitous gluten dust and bits. It's one cover on all three partitions. So even if one could open only two of the partitions and leave the walnuts covered, I don't believe that the walnuts could have never polluted the fruit and yogurt already. Keep your eyes open if you're a fan of the F&Y salad at McD's. And point me in the right direction for complaints. This new design STINKS. It renders a good product unsafe for celiacs. Harrumph. Point me to the complaints queue. Esther in RI

Guest guest
I just found that out the other day too. I know the walnuts used to come in a separate package, but alas, no longer. I did make sure to ask before I ordered it as you never know, and was very disappointed at the news. Rhiannon > > I'm not a huge fan nor a frequent consumer of Mc's fare. Guest guest
It also puts my mom's "quick grab" out of the picture too - she's also allergic to tree nuts, but she likes these fruit and yogurt things! She always just either asked for no nuts, or threw away the packet that they came in. Guest guest
My letter to McD's submitted via their web site: I have celiac disease. I can digest no gluten. For about a year now, I've been relying on the Fruit and Yogurt salad, " Hold the walnuts " . (The walnuts are coated with gratuitous gluten.) It looked like this: http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:3B5plxkBAWeuzM:http://photos1.blogger.com/\ \ img/129/3326/1024/Fruit%2520%26%2520Walnut%2520Salad.jpg Today hubby fetched a quick dinner at McD's. This new design STINKS. It renders a good product unsafe for celiacs. If I am in a test market, I hope you strongly reconsider this new version of your fruit and yogurt salad. I now can find nearly nothing on your menu that I can eat. Why should I take my kids to McD's if I cannot eat anything? I'm frankly uninterested in sitting and watching my family eat without me. I was happy to indulge in the old-style fruit and yogurt salad with the walnuts in their own package. Thank you for your attention in this matter. Guest guest
Esther, I get the salad at Sonic. They have the croutons in their package, not in the salad. The salad dressing is also in a package. I get the grilled chicken salad and haven't had any problems with it at all. It does come with an onion ring, but you can tell them to keep it out of the salad, and I'm sure they will. Guest guest
No Sonics around here. Wish there were, though. Been to one once, years ago, on a vacation. Loved it. Esther in RI > > Esther, I get the salad at Sonic.

Guest guest
I always just get the Fruit & Yogurt with no granola and a bag of apple dippers. Only $2! I didn't like the grapes in the salad because they were always mushy.

Guest guest
Has anyone actually seen the new container? If it is sealed like the Mayer Lunchables are, then each section is sealed separately, and it should be ok. At least for Celiacs. Not sure about the Nut allergic as I do not deal with that, so I have no idea. Guest guest
Yes, I've seen the new container. Hubby bought it and brought it home before he realized. It's one entire sheet of plastic covering all three slots. I can't imagine that it's safe for celiacs or for nut-allergic types. If they put fruit and yogurt in first and THEN nuts, gluten dust on the fruit and yogurt. If they put the nuts in first and then the fruits and yogurts, gluten dust at the bottoms of the fruit and yogurt spots. If it were three individual tops on three individual slots, I could possibly be convinced to try it if told that the bins were sealed independently of one another AND the walnuts were filled last. But it's one cover for all three slots. At this time I cannot believe it's safe. DD took it to school in her lunch. I had leftovers for supper last night. > > > > > And point me in the right direction for complaints. This new > > design STINKS. Guest guest
Not only sad for us celiacs, but for those who suffer from nut allergies. This was a bad move on McDs part, and I hope they change back, or make it easier to avoid the nuts. Sonja Get your own web address for just $1.99/1st yr. We'll help. Yahoo! Small Business.
