OK, so I don't even know what to say to this one.

I was watching VH1 and their Behind the Music piece on

Kid Rock. One of his buddies had Celiac disease and

was 4'9. The narrator said this, " Celiac disease is a

degenerative disease that causes stunted growth. "

That's it. Until later when they said he died at age

26 because his " Celiac disease took a turn for the

worse. "

Like I said. I'm kinda speechless on that one. Kinda

thought that was irresponsible (though the piece

wasn't on Celiac itself, I thought they could have

found some other way to describe it...OTOH, maybe

it'll get more people to " get " that this is serious.

Maybe it'll inspire more people to get tested. Maybe

it'll inspire more people to research it for

themselves). Or am I missing something?

It's the first time I've seen celiac in the media.

It was Joe C. I've never seen more elaboration on the cause of

death. He steadfastly insisted he didn't have a form of dwarfism,

rather that his growth was stunted by celiac disease. He also

cheated on the diet. Perhaps non-compliance led to other health

problems which actually killed him.

According to IMDB.com, he had to take lots of meds and was on dialysis.

(Joe Calleja) Yes, he was Celiac, did he die of celiac? Indirectly, more than likely. He was also a kidney patient (brought on by non diagnosis of celiac) and one probably could contribute his short stature to affects of malnutrition from early onset celiac. Joe C was a talented (and controversial) performer about the metro detroit area in the early 90's, and I suppose later as well. I left the metro area in '92.There recently has been talk that "Posh Spice" Aka Mrs Beckham is celiac, but many belive she is not. No physician has come out and said that she was Dxed by him or her.Best!CassiGluten free in downtown Imatra!

Thanks y'all...

I wasn't sure if there were other Kid Rock fans in the

crowd ;)

Guess I think they could have just as easily said

" Complications associated with... " But I tend to be

picky like that.
