It could be a chemical sensitivity or both. It's hard to tell. I was thinking it was illegal to give chickens hormones that are to be consumed by humans. I just remember reading it on the package of the chicken I buy. I know that chickens eat grains and corn though which are banned on our diet, wonder if there is a connection there? Just wondering, that is not a question that someone has to answer (just introspecting). I am not exactly sure why duck eggs are different. That is just what my daughter's allergist/pediatrician told me and apparently she was right. If you can eat eggs I would highly recommend that you do.
