Guest guest
Hello everyone, I'm relatively new to the boards as well (so glad I found this site). Similar to Brigett, my son is 22 months and 24 pounds and I was also confused as to how much/how often and what to give him. Any guidance would be most helpful. Thanks Pam > > I have a 21 month old 22 pound daughter. > , > > I am not sure what to give her or how much for her small size. > > Should I get " complete omega 3-6-9 liquid " or " children's > DHA " or " ProEFA Liquid " ?? Guest guest
When my son was 2 years and 9 months old I started with Nordic Naturals Pro EFA Junior. These are half the dose of the regular Nordic Naturals Pro EFA. I gave him 1 capsule a day. After a couple of months I increased to 2 capsules a day. Then I found this group and learned that was a fairly low does. Now I am giving him 2 capsules of Pro EFA (regular not junior) a day. I just added 400IU of all natural Vitamin E per day also. I can't say that I have seen any significant changes yet, but I am hoping that it is just too early (it has been less than 2 weeks). Basically, I think if you start out low, you are not going to hurt your child. Just keep an eye on how they are responding and react accordingly. I think the fish oils could make stools kind of loose, but their body may adjust after a couple of weeks. My son has not had any problems with the fish oils. I started Vitamin E about a month ago, but didn't realize I had a blend of synthetic and natural Vitamin E. He started to get emotional like separation anxiety when going to school. It's hard to say if it was the Vitamin E or just a normal phase in childhood though. I'm not a doctor and there are others in this group more knowledgable than me so others may have more advice. Best wishes! Amie > > Hello everyone, > > I'm relatively new to the boards as well (so glad I found this > site). Guest guest
Hello, Okay I'm still confused. I've spent hours each night trying to read everything and learn as much as I can to help my son. My son is 3 1/2 and has sever apraxia and Developmental Coordination Disorder. Since finding this group and starting enzymes and supplements he has shown improvement with both speech and body. He currently is taking digestive enzymes, culturelle, vitamin E (400), Taurine (325), Brainchild vitamins/minerals, mag & B6 chewables, and efalex (5 ml twice a day). He just got a prescription today for Methyl B12 injections, which we are so excited about. I have a few questions that I just can't seem to get answered (and maybe it is just me not understanding). My son is on Efalex (5ml twice a day), but I notice more people here take ProEfa and ProEPA. Is this better? Some people I read take 2 ProEfa and 1 ProEpa twice a day and others are up to 3 times a day. Would it be better to switch him to this and do I start him at twice a day (2 and 1) and then move up??? Is there more of what he needs in these two supplements than what is in Efalex(Efamol)??? Someone please help me with this b/c I've been trying to figure this out for the last couple of weeks. Also I just starting him on Vitamin E (natural 400). Is there another type of Vitamin E, gamma something I should also have him on??? I am only giving him this once a day, should it be twice a day? Any other recommendations would also be appreciated on supplements that may have helped your child(s). I look forward to any answers and for making me believe that there is hope for my non vebal son (babbling and few words).
Guest guest
Hi : Here is the formula for the ProEFA and ProEPA for one capsule. ProEFA on capsule 148 mg EPA 99 mg DHA 40 mg GLA ProEPA one capsule 425 mg EPA 100 mg DHA 90 mg other omega 3s 615 mg total omega 3s You can switch to Nordic Naturals or stay with the Efalex and figure out if the formula is similiar. Then figure out the price difference. We started out giving one proefa, 6 mos. later added 2nd proefa, 6 months later added 1 proepa. Then about a month later from that we upped his dose to twice a day (total of 6 capsules). Lots and lots of new words once we upped it to the second dose. Some are doing 9 capsules. When and if you up his vitamin E to 800 is when you should add the gamma. I have had trouble finding the Gamma Vitamin E in stores around me. suggested to me to google Jarrow Gamma 300 and buy it online. Hope this helps you some Tina > > Hello, > > Okay I'm still confused. Guest guest
I have noticed that many of you are having a hard time finding gamma. I found a High Gamma E that is 200 I.U. E and 200mg Gamma. It's by Rexall and I found it at Wal-Mart for under 4 dollars. It is natural and I give him two of those a day and 1 400 IU E. I plan to increase his E to a total of 1200 E 400 gamma in February. I'm seeing great results. Just recently, my son had a surge in his signs. I got the signing time dvds from the library and he has watched them all week. It's amazing the things he is telling us now.
