Guest guest
Is there anyone who's applied for SSI or Social Security Disability for Lupus? That's what I'm trying to do now and I should be hearing something but it's taking so long. Is that a bad sign? If you have applied for this how long did it take for yours to get approved or denied? -.
Guest guest
, I applied in February for both. SSI told me within one month that I did not qualify for the Social Security Income. I didn't hear back until July regarding disability. I was told right from the start that it would take five to six months. The closer I got to the five month mark the more anxious I was, especially since I have heard of so many people being denied on their first try. Even my lawyer said not to give up as over 95% applicants are denied on their first try. I was approved. Still, I would have appealed if I didn't get it, but I would have gone with a lawyer on the second try. Many people get a lawyer involved at the start, I just figured I would try myself and then get one. I can tell you one thing. I tried treating the whole application deal as a necessity in life, something I live with everyday of my life: taking a shower, brushing my hair, washing my teeth, drinking coffee in the morning. I told myself I would not get excited over it and I would not assume I will get it. I'll just take a step at a time. I think this approached helped me get through that long period. Oh, and don't read into any signs. Good luck. I hope you get it. Mojo Question! > Is there anyone who's applied for SSI or Social Security Disability > for Lupus? Guest guest
Hi , This is my second time trying for SSI. I was denied last time because I was still trying to work and they held that against me. Due to the progression of my illnesses I had to leave work last November and I too am still waiting. You've got to be patient and do not be surprised if u are denied the first time...the majority of folks are, you just appeal their decision and try again. Do u have any other conditions besides the Lupus? Just be sure to include ANYTHING that is making u ill. So,no waiting a long time is not abnormal. When did u apply? I think my first denial took them almost 9 months. They may have a time limit now tho, I am not sure. Good luck to u I will keep my fingers crossed for u. Take care and gentle hugs, Pam > Is there anyone who's applied for SSI or Social Security Disability > for Lupus?
