,

check with your home owner's insurance. I am pretty sure it will cover

items stolen from your car.

By the way, I just found out that I have an immunoglobulin deficiency. My

rheumy is sending me to the same hematologist that my sis is going to. We

found out in Dec. that my sis has an immunoglobulin deficiency. She started

getting monthly IV immunoglobulin supplements in January. Prior to getting

the supplements, she had basically had a sinus and/or upper respiratory

infection for the last six years. After the second treatment, she is now

infection free and beginning to feel better. I don't get infections

anywhere near as often as my sis or really even as often as my daughter or

stepdaughter, not even with being on the immunosuppressant, Imuran. I

really didn't expect to have the immunoglobulin deficiency but the rheumy

wanted to test me for it since my sis has it. My sis will get IV

supplements monthly for the rest of her life. My sis and I will go together

to see the hematologist on Mar 17th. I assume he'll do the same genetic

testing on me that he did on my sis and probably recommend the monthly IV

supplements. Thank goodness I have a port a cath, since IV's are next to

impossible to start on me.

Oh, I also tested positive for the gene HLA B27, which is the gene for

ankylosing spondylitis (AS). The rheumy tested me because my sis has the

gene and probably does have AS. I really don't think I have AS - think I

just have the gene. Luckily my daughter, Nikki, does not have the gene for

AS, even though the rheumy felt pretty sure she has AS. Seems Nikki just

has RA and then of course, we all three (me, my sis, and my daughter) have

the antiphospholipid syndrome.

I was just wondering if you have any good info or sites on immunoglobulin

deficiency. I'm having a hard time finding a site that really explains it

to the point that I can understand it. Also, another interesting tidbit is

that the specific gene my sis has that causes the immunoglobulin deficiency

and the gene HLA B27 cannot both come from the same parent. You can only

get one or the other from one parent. So, it seems that my sis and I got a

double whammy with the autoimmune diseases genes. My mom will see the

rheumy later this month. I'm sure she'll run all the tests on my mom that

she's run on me, Nikki, and my sis. It will be interesting to see if my mom

has the gene HLA B27. If she doesn't, we will know that gene came from my

dad. If my mom has the HLA B27, then the immunoglobulin deficiency had to

come from our dad.

Anyway, any info you can direct me to on the immunoglobulin deficiency will

be greatly appreciated. My rheumy's nurse told me that the rheumy wanted me

to see the hematologist fairly soon because she thinks the immunoglobulin

deficiency may be causing a lot of my current health issues, especially the

repeat attacks of acute pancreatitis.
