I saw Farley's at Walgreens, at least I am pretty sure it was Farley's and it said the same thing. We aren't having them, yet. Still holding out for a clear label. We are pretty sure we saw one last year, like a Kroger's brand or Target or something. We are going to keep looking.

Brach's Candy Corn? I'm reading mixed reviews

The ingredients do not have anything that would suggest gluten, but

there is a warning that wheat is used in the factory(along w/ other

allergens). My 3 yr old son was crying after I read that and wouldn't

let him eat them. I can not find Farley's brand around here anywhere..

What do you all think? Have any of you all had then w/ no reaction?

TIA!!

I purchased Wal-mart brand candy corn, on the back of the bag it states gluten

free. I think the Wal-mart brand is called " Great Value " , they're good..

Hope this helps

Before I run all the way down there to get some, do you know if the

Wal-mart brand is also dairy and egg free?

My son and I had a BAD reaction to Brach's yesterday- we have always

eaten it. I actually suspect dairy because I had throat swelling

after eating it. He's usually delayed-reactive but he had a lot of

cramping within hours... He's also devistated, just another thing to

cross off his list.

Thanks-

Are you sure it wasn't a peanut allergy causing throat swelling? I have never read a label of candy corn that didn't have a peanut allergy warning. I have no idea why, since it doesn't contain nuts, but whatever!! I have to have my son avoid all candy corn, and it's hard because most people don't think about nuts with a candy that is mostly sugar. (BTW he is not celiac, just allergic to peanuts, eggs and milk. I am the Celiac in the family). Sonja

I contacted Brach's a few months ago and was told NOTHING they make

is gluten free. A shame! I love the little caramels they make that

are cylinder shaped and flavored :(

It's not that NOTHING they make is GF, it's that they will not confirm that things are GF. It's sort of a CYA statement, really. But, who wants to buy from a company that won't go the extra mile for their customers just to say "There are no gluten ingredients in that product, but we cannot guarantee GF status." Is that statement REALLY that hard to make? Geesh, Brach's....

No, definately not peanut- I have a severe milk allergy and lately it

has caused throat swelling and difficulty breathing if I smell it

cooking. Not allergic to peanuts at all.

My son has a minor milk protein allergy (nowhere near as bad as mine)

and generally doesn't react to trace amounts. Poor little guy has

been absolutely miserable all weekend since eating the candy corn-

with basic celiac symptoms so I really can't say with any certainty

what caused our reactions.

Well personally in this letigious society yes. Look

how much flack McDon's got from their fry fiasco. Heck

they are still getting it... and I'm sure it cost them

tons of money.

So in a way I don't blame them. Yes, I'm frustrated

too. I'd rather them do the CYA thing by saying to

the best of our knowledge we believe it's gf (but we

can't guarantee it). That way people can make a

choice.

maybe they use some kinda flour on their lines or

something (or it's the usual CYA).
