Guest guest
Hi. I'm new to this group. My name is Micah. I also have epilepsy. I meant to post earlier, but for some reason kept forgetting to. so now i'm here. I have a lot of questions for everyone. My first question is : for how long has your child with epilepsy been on the ketogenic diet? Secondly, Can anyone (even if it's more than one person, actually the more the merrier) give me an example of BREAKFAST, LUNCH, and DINNER at your house for your kid's KETOGENIC DIET? And how does your kid like it? Was/is it hard to keep? I will be waiting for your replies. Third question: any tricks in dealing with lunch time for your kid, since he/she's on the diet and can't eat the cafeateria food? Who weights the food out? Answer questions like that for me please. Anyone? I'd like to hear your stories.Thanks. And lastly, this may sound like a stupid question. But how many of you have seen the movie " First Do No Harm? " If you haven't it's an excellent one, reguarding epilepsy research and the ketogenic diet. Thank you everyone. Have a great day everyone. Guest guest
Subject: Hi/ Ketogenic Diet Questions? Micah, here are my answers. I am Grandma to Tanner, age 5. Hi. I'm new to this group. My name is Micah. I also have epilepsy. I meant to post earlier, but for some reason kept forgetting to. so now i'm here. I have a lot of questions for everyone. My first question is : for how long has your child with epilepsy been on the ketogenic diet? Since July 2004 Secondly, Can anyone (even if it's more than one person, actually the more the merrier) give me an example of BREAKFAST, LUNCH, and DINNER at your house for your kid's KETOGENIC DIET? And how does your kid like it? Was/is it hard to keep? I will be waiting for your replies. Meat or eggs, cream, small amount of fruit, cucumbers or celery, butter. Likes it okay. Sometimes gets sick of stuff and have to change the way it is fixed to cheese cake or ice cream.. Gets sick of the cream. Have to make it different ways. Third question: any tricks in dealing with lunch time for your kid, since he/she's on the diet and can't eat the cafeateria food? Who weights the food out? Answer questions like that for me please. Anyone? I'd like to hear your stories. He is in kindergarten. His mom, my daughter, makes his breakfast before he goes to school. He takes it with him. He has an aid who makes sure he eats it at school. My daughter works at the school and if he has any problems she is close so that they can call her. He has Landau Kleffner Syndrome and lost his speech but has since learned it back with the diet helping the seizures. He is a very bright little boy. And lastly, this may sound like a stupid question. But how many of you have seen the movie " First Do No Harm? " If you haven't it's an excellent one, reguarding epilepsy research and the ketogenic diet. The story is very like what Tanner went through. The many drugs were doing him more harm than good. He was getting worse and worse and could no longer talk at all. He is still on a small dose of depakote and lamictal. Hallie Thank you everyone. Have a great day everyone.
