Seizure dog question Re: child's age

I have a question about assistance dogs. At what age did your children qualify,

and if I could ask, are your children developmentally on target? My son is 7

(will be 8 in May) but is not developmentally on target - probably about 2

1/2-3yrs delayed. We were just denied a dog by a company on the basis that he is

not 10 yrs old, stating that at 10 he can better handle a dog etc etc etc.

However, what if his developmental delays continue and he is not developmentally

ready at 10? Ugh! Looking into other organizations (was hoping we could stay

close to home but that might not be the case)

Thanks for any advice.

CARES gave Jake a dog when he was 4, soon to be 5. He is now 9 and

developmentally around 2-3. I ran into the same thing.

Not an issue w/ CARES (Concordia, KS)

Thanks for the information. I am still hoping to try to get a dog thru the

organization that we started with (maybe there are acceptions to this rule - not

sure yet) but will keep CARES in mind (think I might have researched them when I

first started as they do sound familiar. Thanks again.
