and the wait.

Hopefully, we can soon end this thread, but , I know it's hard to

wait, but you have to respect the doctor's orders/wishes. He truly has

the best in mind for everyone, and believe it or not, that includes you.

He posted that it cost a lot of time and money (bseides nerves) when

someone pulls out, and he really is just trying to prevent that from

occuring again.

Look, three months is nothing. Really.

When I first went to aclinic on May 15th in 1999, I was all ready for

surgery and had done the research and been on the onelist for a while at

that point. But Dr R wasn't doing surgery on folks that weighed over 350

and I did. So he was firm with me too and told me I couldn't have the

surgery until I got the weight down to 350.

Needless, to say, I was ready for surgery that minute after clinic, and

was somewhat dejected that I had to wait, but it was someting important

enough to me that I could wait and get the weight off.

During the months that followed, I learned more, went to more clinics,

met more post ops, asked more questions and could just about run clinic

if Dr R ever needed me to. :)

So, when I finally got my weight off, got insurance approval and

scheduled my date (which I actually rescheduled about 3 times thanks to

work and family conflicts!) on November 1st, I was one of the

best-prepared patients Dr R probably ever had.

And I never looked back, nor regretted or more importantly, resented the

wait.

Take the time to learn a little more, to grow a little more and don't

waste your time begging the doc to rescind his orders. It will just make

him think you are impatient and as he tells everyone in clinic, he won't

do someone who wants it tommorrow.

Remember the simple old adage:

" Good things come to those who wait. "
