I don't have a lot of time anymore cause I am so busy with a sick Mom

and also my new, more healthy lifestyle is busier!!! But I felt I had

to respond to your situation. I am what you might call an " old timer " ..

Have been here over a year, surgery 10 months ago and I want to tell you

that this is a SUPPORT group, you can make friends here and you are free

to share and unload here. That, along with information seeking and

sharing, is the purpose of this group. I should know, I am the person

who asked Dr R to form this bulletin board somewhere around a year ago.

I was pretty ticked to hear the insensitive remarks made to you about

your decision to back out of your surgery. Everyone has a right to an

opinion but to berate you about your decision and your seeking support

here upset me terribly..

I also don't feel Dr R is peeved at you. I know that he believes this is

very serious decision and doesn't take it lightly. Why do you think he

requires pre-op to do so much before he will do the procedure? He wants

you to be sure you understand the risks and benefits and that you are

100% sure you are ready for this. If he requires you to wait 3 months,

its because he wants to be sure you are ready not to punish you like a

child. Your slot was your slot and if you needed more time to decide,

then so be it. You have that right!! Don't feel like you prevented

someone from having surgery a day sooner. That is ludicrous. Most of us

have been overweight for many many years and a few hours or one day

sooner for one person is so insignificant so don't feel badly about it.

Take some time, stay here and be active with this SUPPORT GROUP and if

you continue to feel you are ready for this surgery when Dr R allows you

to reschedule .... GO FOR IT....
