I'm so happy thatI found you. Thank you for being here.

My spouse is in stage 4 of PSC. One month ago he had the TIPS

procedure done. He has been home for 3 weeks and during that time

nausea has increased in fequency and to the point where he does not

retain food. These experiences occur at any time of the day and last

from 2 hours to a full day. I've searched the literature without

finding references to this problem. The doctors I've consulted haven't

identified a cause for this reaction and have no advice. They continue

to search for answers through blood tests.

With so many experienced and knowledgeable people in this group, I'm

wondering if someone who recognizes this could share a few words with

me.

Thank you.

Bless your heart!! I'm so glad you've found this group. There are very

knowledgeable people in this group, and even a couple of doctors who

themselves have this lousy disease.

I'm pretty advanced in my PSC. My nausea level varies from day to day

but is always present to some extent. A couple of years ago, my GI dr.

said that if I could tolerate the nausea without additional meds, it

would be better, because I would really need the meds much more later

on. Many of us here deal with nausea, each one finding what works best

for them. Sometimes it's severe enough that you just want some

phenergan to make you sleep through it for a day. I have, at times,

used the accupressure wristbands (sold for seasickness) which seem to

take the edge off the nausea, enough so that I can get through my worst

days ... so far!!

Others will chime in with their thoughts on this. Meanwhile, you might

want to browse through the archived posts on the website.

Hang in there!!! Take it just one day (or one hour ... or even one

minute) at a time. You have lots of friends here now who know exactly

what you're dealing with.

Regards,

Carolyn B. in SC
