Guest guest
I don't think I am qualified to answer that question. I only know what helped my daughter. You will have to evaluate your own situation and experiment. Firstly, we never used Unicap or Calcimix and I don't know what they contain. You need an adult strength multivitamin and mineral supplement, preferably with extra magnesium as well. We use Cal-Mag-Zinc III from Wholelife. It is especially formulated for children on the ketogenic diet. It now also has selenium and other trace minerals. I also give brazil nuts daily for their mineral contents. When we were on a higher ratio and having reflux, I also gave milk of magnesium daily. I do know about carbatrol. My daughter was toxic on it for years. It wasn't until she started on the diet that this became apparent. It is very difficult to wean and has very serious withdrawal seizures. You have to go very slowly towards the end and it will take at least 4 months if things go well. I only know from others who have reported here that depakote is a bad medicine to use when on the diet. Many have weaned it very slowly as well and had success. That is a big ratio change. Did you notice any change in seizures? Bill Staci wrote: > > Bill- > is on Unicap and Calcimix for supplements and he is on > depakote and carbatrol.
