MY` WONKY ' KNEE ....good news

Greetings ALL......

Well I hobbled into the Orthopedic Surgeon today.....He took exrays, and found that I still have a pin in my leg.....I thought so !! I kept telling my daughter that there was still one in there.....There had been a rod and 9 pins used to put my knee and leg back together. The new Doc......he looks just like `Bo Pilgrim ' ...by the way,.....Said that the surgeon who had repaired my leg and knee did an excellant job on a terrible mess .....The pin is NOT what is bothering me....he said that he probably had left it in when he removed the rest of the hardware because he felt that It wasn't quite healed enough......He said that the coral that the surgeon had used to rebuild my Tibial Plateau was stronger than my bones,and looked good!

He did NOT say the words `KNEE REPLACEMENT ' to me ......he said Knee

Brace.......Something called a ` Medial Unloading Brace'.....to pull my knee back into line where it's supposed to be......it will push it to the left.

I told him how afraid I was that he was going to say `knee replacement'....!!

He laughed and said ," I did not say `knee replacement',now did I !! I'm not going to say that to you at this point,.....however....if the brace doesn't work .....which I think it will.......You would be an excellent candidate for a partial knee replacement in which we would repace just the left side of your knee.....which is a much simpler proceedure ,and takes much less recovery and rehab. than a full knee replacement....

Some one is supposed to call me in the next couple of days and set up an appointment to measure me for the brace....The Doc. said they might come to my house or I will have to meet them at His office....Won't know untill they call me...

Now I just need to find out if my insurance will pay for part of the cost of the brace......they have just made some changes in my policy and I can't find anything about braces in the new info. they sent out........The phone lines are tied up ....everybody trying to figure out the new changes, I'm sure.

This Gimpy Granny is tired ..now ....didn't sleep much last night .....worried about New Doc......will talk later.
