Heidi, future occupational therapist and single mom to (IS, Severely/Multiply Impaired, Ketokid since 12/03) and twin brother, (4 years), and big sis Madison (6). If the skin around the mouth looks red and scaly, it is probably impetigo which is a staphylococcus infection. It is treated with antibiotics such as amoxicillin and and antibacterial or antibiotic cream. I don't think it has anything to do with the diet, but kids in general get it frequently (it is contagious until treated with antibiotics), especially in the winter. We just went to Florida and applied a bunch of bag-o-balm to it and it went away. But now that we're home to winter weather again, it's back. I will find out. He still has it though just not as bad. Hallie Yeast Infection??? Is it possible to get a yeast infection around the mouth? I think Jordan has one. My daughter seems to have the same thing, right around her paci area, and we're wondering what to do.
