Guest guest
I am. I give him 2 Omega 3-6-9s a day and 1 EPA along with the vitamin E. I did see small surges with the fish oils (he's been on those exactly 30 days now). The Vitamin E has show huge surges and fast! I'm thrilled. Guest guest
Gavin was born early, heart rate drop to dangerous low during delivery, and didn't get enough oxygen after birth. The most words he ever said were six of them at age two. At two and a half he said 2, and then went to none. He never babbled. He was also considered lethargic, although I always looked at him as having a mellow personality. When he was one year 9 months, he did fall and hit the bridge of his nose on the hearth of the fireplace. He had no signs of head injury. Just a bloody nose, then swelling, and bruising. He NEVER complained which is what made me start to wonder if something wasn't quite right. Guest guest
Hard to say what is best. I think sticking with what is working is always a good idea. You may not need such high gamma (ie 300 mg may be sufficient)...but really no one knows. If you think you saw improvements with additional gamma, I would run with that. Your daughter is older - nearly 5...it is good to hear that vitamin E may help the older children too. -claudia > Hi all, > > > > I wanted to update the group about the results we have seen in my > daughter (4.11 y.o.) since starting her on Vitamin E just over a month > ago. > > > > She was never able to pedal a bike (with training wheels), but now she > is. Guest guest
Just wanted to post an interesting vitamin E update for Tanner. I had Tanner on the alpha gamma mix 400 IUs from Vitamin World and then due to messages here decreased the gamma and increased the alpha. I noticed a slight regression on Tanner's speech. He didn't speak as quickly as he was but continued. Then I ran out of the alpha gamma mix and just had him on the alpha. Tanner started to stutter -and bad enough that everyone noticed it. I ran out to the mall and bought two more bottles of the alpha gamma and gave him 3 capsules last night which he quickly swallowed all at once (he hates " Mr. Bumpy " ) and then this morning went back to 3 of the alpha gamma mix and only one of the 400IU alpha -and after school today Tanner's speech is smooth again. Anyone else notice they need the higher gamma? BTW -this is the one I use High Gamma Tocopherol Softgels http://www.vitaminworld.com/pages/Categories.asp?xs= & CID=69 Speaking of vitamins -does anyone use the new Nordic Naturals " Nordic Berries " ? Also just took Tanner about a week ago for his blood testing as per 's advice -12 vials of blood! They were really good about it -and so was Tanner. They used a butterfly needle or something hooked up to a tube so that when they switched the vials Tanner wouldn't feel it. So only one needle went in and out. All the tests were ordered by his pediatrician -and without any issues. In fact his pediatrician's office found it " very exciting " to be involved in some way to something that could possibly be a cutting edge discovery by an awesome medical researcher/Mom -Dr. . Will let you guys know the results when I find out! =====
Guest guest
Good Evening , I have been giving my daughter the Nordic Naturals Nordic Berries for a while, they seem to be fine. I don't like the sugaryness ( I know that is not a word). If they were in a chewable hard tablet it would be better on their teeth. I can't wait to read about Tanner's results because I was just about to make an appointment with Faith's Dev. Peds for her blood test. I guess I will order some Vit. E gamma and start her on that. Thanks again for all of your continued help. Bonnye - Faith's mommy kiddietalk <kiddietalk@...> wrote: Just wanted to post an interesting vitamin E update for Tanner. I have thought about whether we need to add more gamma but was waiting for others to notice improvements with added gamma and the amt they were using?????? I guess I am using a different mix than you 3 E-400 ( NOW brand mainly alpha with traces of the other Es) and 1 gamma E-300 (Jarrow formulas) curious if others are on this ratio Roxanne _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of kiddietalk Sent: Wednesday, November 29, 2006 5:29 PM Subject: [ ] Vitamin E update Just wanted to post an interesting vitamin E update for Tanner. Guest guest
I think its interesting. There is also some alpha in the gamma 300 (100IU I think). Hard to say just " what " of the components are helping. Right now ph gets a pure alpha-d-tocophorol (more than I'll admit here)...and an additional gamma 300. I tried to switch to the soy free brand that my other son is on...just to simplify the complicated combo of supplements we are on (ie they've been on zinc and probiotics for years because of their gut issues) and its all confusion for my babysitter. When I switched ph to the Ron's ultra pure...he regressed noticably within 48 hours. I went back over all the dosages, and because the Ron's ultra pure is a combo of tocophorol components including both alpha and gamma, I had basically decreased his alpha component by 100 IU a day (that he had been getting in the Jarrow gamma 300)...while increasing his gamma a bit. So I took that as a sign that it was really the alpha...even at what seemed a small amount compared to how much he gets now. But remember...the additional 15 iu of vitamin E in each omega capsule made enough of a difference that we figured out vit E was helping when we did the liquid to capsule switch. I think some of these kids are just very sensitive. So I went back to what was working for ph. It really is trial and error. It is also quite possible that some children will respond to the anti-inflammatory effects of the gamma. Giving a second dose of gamma is probably fine to try even if you are giving 1200 IU of the alpha tocophorol. You are still below 1500 iu. But there is even less info on the effects of gamma in children...so honestly I can't say its safe or not. - > I have.it's weird you wrote this ..I thought we were doing great on the > E-400 alpha mixed 3 times a day but decided to add the gamma E 300 at the > middle of the day dosage and we see better ease of 3 and 4 word sentences > she (my daughter) just seems more animated and alert with this combination > ??? Guest guest
There is still some alpha tocophorol in the Jarrow gamma preparation. So its impossible to say if it truly is addition of gamma, or additional alpha (100 IU)...that is making the difference. When we added an alpha/gamma combo in exchange for the separate alpha and gamma preparations (to simplify things) we saw some regression. The only difference was that by eliminating the separate Jarrow Gamma 300 using the more complete vit E formula...we decreased alpha by 100 IU a day. Seems trivial compared to the high doses we are using...but it made a difference. We returned to the previous dosing and regained losses. It is trial and error, so go with what seems to be working. But also good if we can figure out just what really is working. Guest guest
I've been out for a week on an much needed vacation and it is interesting that this gamma topic came up because I was going to post something I saw 2 weeks ago with the addition of gamma. I increased his dosage from 200IU per day to 400IU per day. Let me note that I saw regression (sensory issues) daily giving him just 200IU in the morning. Everyday - 9 hours after I gave it to him. It was like clock-work. I was using the Vitamin World High Gamma Tocopherol with 200IU alpha and 200 mg gamma. I was giving him two of those per day with wonderful results (no daily regression) but decided to try giving him one of those in am then another dose of just straight alpha in the pm (to avoid giving him too much gamma). The first day I tried it we had regression - it was like I had not given him the 2nd dose. So I went back to using the High Gamma mix for a couple of days. Tried it again - had regression again. So after that 2nd try I have been back to giving him High Gamma twice per day and it is working beautifully with no regression. For him, it appears he needs the gamma. > > > There is still some alpha tocophorol in the Jarrow gamma > preparation. Guest guest
Anyone else notice they need the > higher gamma? YES! I have tried adding on Vitamin E here as well. We have only used up to 400 IU, but I have noticed more fussiness, more moodiness and of course not as many speech sounds/attempts on the regular E. When I recently switched back to High Gamma, I am seeing wonderful improvements after just 4 days, including the ability to mimic hand movements and gestures/signs, more easily without stressing. He is also attempting speech and getting cues by looking at our mouths. Participation in his Kindermusik class has been awesome for the past two classes and things are looking way up. Only new things are the High Gamma and the addition of 1 Evening Primrose Oil to the ProEfa and ProEPA mix.

Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am an oldtimer to childrensapraxia group but have left for various reasons, but have since returned because I am back to giving my daughter minimal supplementation, no hard core medicines like the DMSA that I tried when I left the first time. That approach was a disaster for my dd. Anyway, I wanted to ask about the combination of Omega 3's and vitamin E. My dd is currently taking Nordic Naturals Omega 3 and extra DHA, I am very interested in possible adding vitamin E. Can someone tell me or give me a good, in lamens terms, link to the benefits of vitamin E with children with apraxia. Thanks for all of your support. Regards, Traci > > Just wanted to post an interesting vitamin E update for Tanner.
