Guest guest
Hello, I've had diarrhea for years now and just found Elaine's book. I started the diet last Thursday and made a successful version of the SCD yogurt (which ended up being cream cheese) on Saturday. How much should one eat a day to benefit from it? I used to put regular Philly cream cheese on bagels---without any bread products to speak of I'm eating it plain which is not easy for me. Also, I'm not a yogurt fan so I could see eating a lot of the cream cheese version if I could find something to put it on that tastes good. Your help is appreciated. Guest guest
Try mixing it with a ripe banana in a food processor. Or you could cook fruit, freeze it and make a nice smoothie and add some of the yogurt to it. The upper limit is 3 cups per day for an adult. Guest guest
Hi Jody, Another question for you. I know the recipe calls for raw milk, but I bought some which is pastuerized. Does this mean that I don't need to " heat " on the stove? I bought it before I realized that I should have raw milk. Thanks for your comments about the banana smoothie! Guest guest
Robbie, The milk does not need to be raw, but it can be if you have a reliable source. Some states do not allow the sale of raw milk (like where I live-Indiana). Elaine does not recommend the UHT milk, but pasturized is fine. Guest guest
Robbie, I forgot to answer part of your question. You do still need to follow all of the directions for making the yogurt if you use pasturized milk, including heating the milk. Guest guest
Hi Jody, That's good news because the nearest HFS has pasturized goat's milk. Thanks, Robbie > > Robbie, > > The milk does not need to be raw, but it can be if you have a reliable source. > Some states do not allow the sale of raw milk (like where I live- Indiana). > Elaine does not recommend the UHT milk, but pasturized is fine. > > Jody > mom to -6 and -8 > SCD 26 months

Guest guest
I saw somewhere that folks should start with a tablespoon a day. Is that right? Or if I have severe diarrhea would it help to increase the " dosage " ? > > Try mixing it with a ripe banana in a food processor. > > Or you could cook fruit, freeze it and make a nice smoothie and add some of the > yogurt to it. > > The upper limit is 3 cups per day for an adult. > > > Jody > mom to -6 and -8 > SCD 26 months
Guest guest
Hi sharie, > I saw somewhere that folks should start with a tablespoon a day. Is > that right? Or if I have severe diarrhea would it help to increase > the " dosage " ? It depends on the individual. If a person has severe diarrhea we suggest going on the intro diet for 4-5 days and add foods after that. http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/beginners_guide/beginners.htm http://pecanbread.com/foodprep.html#intro (dairy free version) Sheila, SCD 50 mos, 21 yrs UC mom of , SCD 35 mos
