Guest guest
Can you give him a bunch of cream to off set it? Fast him for the rest of the day? How are his ketones? Steph lloydandleslie@... wrote: Ok guys. has been doing so much better since his colonscopy and I think it is because he had to fast and his seizures went away. This am, my hubby took the boys to get a haircut and got into candy that was in the lobby for sale. He ate 2 candy bars at 41 g carbs each. He has never gotten this much in him. Is there anything I can do to prevent a big seizure or just wait and see?? How long should it take for him to react if he is going to? I am so mad. We finally have him back on track and he is supposed to go back to school Monday and now this. Any adivce? Thanks

Guest guest
Well, it has been 7 hours and so far nothing. We are not giving him any carbs and did not give him lunch. I am going to load him on cream tonight and hope that tommorrow morning he wakes up ok. Usually, the next morning is the worst for him. His seizures are always in the am and some days-go all day if he's clustering really bad. Well, I guess he got his much desired Halloween candy early. He hasn't had candy in 5 years for Halloween. he told me " it was an accident but I couldn't help it. " Poor little thing. On the other side, I have to tell you that yesterday I took and his brother to the pumpkin patch. We had a great time and when we were at the check out his brother came up to me and gave me candy corn and asked me if he could get a treat. came up with a bag of nuts and said " look mom-can I have this " . It was so precious to me that he knew what he could have and chose that over all of the candy. I'll keep you posted on this!! Thanks
Guest guest
A bit late to be of any use I guess, but I always give some oil (usually in a syringe) to compensate for a cheat, (I enter it in a mealplan to roughly work out what he would need to try and even it out) but er, he has never had that much carb in one go. That amount does sound more like he would need to skip a meal (or more..), but the only problem with using that method as opposed to adding oil or cream to try and make it balance ketogenically, is that he may now use that stored glycogen he will now have on board probaby in one hit to compensate for not getting a meal, and that is where you might have trouble. I know some centres say to give the next keto meal without any carb content, that would possibly be the happy medium, as he would then get some caloric fat to try and get some ketones back whilst he is still getting rid of the candy carb. Anyways, it is prob all past history by now, how did he fare? ----- Original Message ----- From: lloydandleslie@...
