Muffy,

I haven't had the surgery yet. Are you getting in enough fluids? Sometimes

a decrease in fluids can make your blood pressure fall, thus, making you

dizzy when you stand. I really think you should speak with Dr. R about this.

Hi Muffy,

You are not alone... I feel that way still.... I had my surgery on the 23rd

......I managed to go to clinic this morning.... But had to come home and take

a nap..

I was TIRED. I tried to go back to work on Wednesday.... But got to work

and almost passed out..( not sure if this is all from the lack of food or

from just the surgery itself..

My pain is gone except for a minor stitch in my left side.....(-;

I hope that you continue to do well and just dont over do it..I tried to do

too much too soon and Well...It comes back to haunt ya

Take care

Penny

Hey everyone,

This is Muffy Kerber again. It's Saturday afternoon and I had my surgery on

Monday. Thanks for the responses to my previous postings.

Some of my stomach swelling and pressure under my ribs has lessened. Even

though I'm not having any pain, I took some pain medication last night for the

first time and it really helped the discomfort.

What I am finding so discouraging is the weakness. As long as I'm sitting, I

feel pretty much okay. I hold my kids, work on the computer, watch TV, etc.

But I honestly can't stand for more than a few minutes. My pulse starts racing

and my legs and arms start shaking and I know I have to sit down or I'll pass

out.

Has anyone else experienced this weakness five days after surgery without any

signs of improvement?

Thanks,

Muffy

Muffy,

Call Dr R..You may be slightly dehydrated and /or having an electrolyte

imbalance. Or any number of things HE can tell what to do about. Are you

drinking much??? ARe you urinating pale colored urine.....NOT darK(an

indication you are getting enough fluids)

Please do not hesitate to call your surgeon if you feel like this.

Muffy,

I too was weak after surgery, but I had 2

surgeries so I attributed it to that. I know of some

others that have had weakness after surgery and they

seemed to be low on potassium. Have you tried

gatoraide? I know Dr. R has recommended that to some

post ops.

Sorry not much help there, my energy came back

gradually day by day, I was pretty much back to the

old me at 3 weeks post op.

Hugs, Kathy

Have you been drinking your shakes/gatorade, etc? You blood sugar could be

low. Has taking something orally helped with the weakness? (I know you

can't eat solid food, but perhaps some tomatoe or carrot juice.) I had this

kind of a reaction one time when I was on the Atkins diet....my blood sugar

got so low, I thought I was going to die. What has Dr R said?

Hope you feel better.
