I think that mineral oil is a strong laxative. You should look at

increasing fluids. It might be worthwhile to consider a stool softener

as well. Hopefully the fibre and milk of magnesia will have a similar

effect to the stool softener.

we have been battling this issues recently. We used magnesium and that helped

but it did not help get him " unblocked " . We were having the loose stools going

around the impaction like wendy described. We have finally got itunder control

with miralax but let me tell you that the constipation is the first time

has has seizures in 2 years other than infection or extreme cheating

on the KGD. You must stay on top of it.

He had an endoscopy and colonoscopy yesterday and got a clean bill of health.

It has taken about 6 months to get this under control. If we had not done the

xrays, we would not have known. had to be taken out of school for 5

weeks to give him high dose miralx to get him unconstipated.

It is no fun and Atkins is worse for those of you considering it. We are going

back to the KGD soon. I'm actually not dreading it because I know that it works

and hope and pray that it works again.
