pitas and wraps

Today's news out of Edmonton mentions a wide variety of

GF bagels, pitas and wraps. I've tried some GF bagels and will

leave my comments out at this time. My question is: Has any

one seen GF pitas and wraps? I really miss pitas and wraps.

Corn tortillas just don't " do it " for me. Wondering if there

is something I've missed. Advice welcomed.

Hi Esther (and everyone else),

I'm new to the list and am interested in what everyone is eating.

What brands of bagels have you tried? I've had only two brands that

were edible. Sterks are pretty good if you toast them until they are

crunchy and Glutinos are OK if you toast them as well. Supposedly

there are two brands of wraps - Don Panchos and Food for Life. I just

bought a package of the Food for Life but haven't tried them yet -

I'll let you know what I think but I've heard that the Don Panchos are

better. Anyone else?

Hey Thanks! I'll be looking for these. What kind of store did you

find them in, or did you mail order them?

I'll be keen to read your review of the wraps.

Re bagels - I've yet to find a GF bagel that I like. I don't want

to settle for edible, or even palatable. I'd like to find one I

really enjoy. But it hasn't happened yet. I've been GF almost a year.

Food for Life Brown Rice Tortillas are excellent! I love them!! I used to eat corn tortillas that were okay untill I found out about my corn allergy. The brown rice tortillas actually taste good--of course 6 in a bag at over $3.00 means I don't eat them as often as I would like.

I also use the rice wrappers from the Asian market to make sandwhich wraps. They are not too bad and they are cheap!!

Kinnickinick makes good bagels.

Supposedly there are two brands of wraps - Don Panchos and Food for

Life.

with the food for life wraps - cover with a wet paper towel and thaw

in the microwave for 15 seconds. keeps them from drying out. they're

actually fairly tasty.

I let the Food For Life Tortillas thaw in fridge. I then heat them in large frying pan on both sides then add cheese and homemade salsa and put another on top. When cheese melts I flip the whole thing over and brown the other tortilla. I have never tried rolling them because I love the quesadillas so much!!

we warm them on the stove burner but I think warming them in the

microwave would work as well

Hey all,

Do you know of a web site for Don Panchos?

I can't find them online, and the WHole foods doesn't carry them here.

THe Food for Life wraps ARE good. We have had those for some time, but

the stick together a little too much when you freeze the package. ( we

have to cause the WF is hour away).

Thanks for any info!

That sounds good! I've never had a " full size " quesadilla, I'm looking

forward to trying it. :) Thanks for the idea.

I've found two places so far that sell the Don Panchos wraps:

www.glutenfreemall.com

In the left-hand column is a list of manufactuers. You can find Don

Panchos there. 8 wraps for $4.56

www.food4celiacs.com

This is the site of the GlutenFree Trading Company. Click on 'Shop

Online' and then on scroll down and you'll see the list of brands --

Don Panchos is one of them. 8 wraps for $5.09. They are currently

temporarily out of stock, but at least this place carries them.

The Enjoy Life bread and bagel products are the best I’ve

tried. Their onion bagels are really ok (none are great) but their rye bread is

really, really delicious. I got them on line. All have to be toasted or to me,

are totally inedible.

I can't wait to start eating dairy again. I used to make the best quesadillas!

I would dice and brown some chicken with seasonings, sautee some onions and put

both in the quesadilla with a four cheese blend. I lightly buttered the outside

of each tortilla-like a grilled cheese-and fried them. MMMMMmmmmmmmmm. I am

drooling just thinking of it!
