Guest guest
I apologize if this is a common question but.. I am hesitant to try the goat milk yogurt for my son with ASD because it is dairy. Does anyone have experience with this? Should I avoid dairy entirely or is it worth it to do the goat yogurt? Happy Anniversary! Guest guest
My daughter was off of dairy too, but we tried goat yogurt and it really helped her. Everyone saw a huge leap in the first month we were on the yogurt - her speech was more natural, her interaction with kids at school improved, etc. So I think it's worth it if he can tolerate it. You need to take baby steps though, since it might hasten die-off - start with maybe 1/4 tsp each day, and then slowly increase every 2 or 3 days if he doesn't show any negative symptoms (bad behavior, increased stimming, etc.) Cindy mom to asd daughter, 4, scd 5 months > > I apologize if this is a common question but.. > > > > I am hesitant to try the goat milk yogurt for my son with ASD because it is > dairy. Guest guest
There's no lactose in the yogurt, but there's still casein. But I honestly don't know if my daughter had trouble with casein to begin with. By the time we had the allergy panels done, she'd already been gfcf for a while, so nothing significant showed up. > > > > I apologize if this is a common question but.. > > > > > > > > I am hesitant to try the goat milk yogurt for my son with ASD > because it is > > dairy. Guest guest
Well I know my son can't tolerate milk or cheese. But I guess it could be lactose. It does make me nervous though. Guest guest
We went the nut yogurt way for 6 months and then switched to goat's milk yogurt with no problems. I do find that when I run out of his yogurt and give him mine (SCD skim cow's milk yogurt) his ezcema appears after about 1 week. Yogurt, like any probiotic, can cause issues so I was glad to start with nut milk first in order to understand his baseline. Good luck! Guest guest
theres nothing nicer than really good goats milk yogurt but you drink it rather than spoon it goats milk is very sensitive to pasture quality and as the season gets past early/mid summer and the kids would have been bigger it drops off too its not so hot if the spring is a bit wet too.......... > > I apologize if this is a common question but.. > > > > I am hesitant to try the goat milk yogurt for my son with ASD because it is > dairy. Guest guest
Hi Kelli, It may be the size of the milk proteins. Goat milk proteins are smaller than cow milk proteins and are easier to digest. Have you tried legal goat cheese? Some try that before attempting the homemade goat yogurt. Sheila > Well I know my son can't tolerate milk or cheese. But I guess it could be > lactose.
