Guest guest
I have been taking Zinc for years with no side effects. It has helped me to keep the cea under control and I have stopped using steroids for Psoriasis. When I stopped taking Zinc both illneses have returned in full force within 6 months. So I'm back on the Zinc. I started with small doses, but saw no results until I reached 50 mg a day. If you take 50mg of zinc, you need to take it with 3mg of Copper. Zinc and Iron should never be taken at the same time, because they interfere with each other's activity. (Multivitamins always have the 2 together, so basicaly you are not getting any.) Zinc is an essential mineral. It may help prevent acne and regulate the activity of oil glands. It is required for protein synthesis and collagen formation, and promotes a healthy immune system and the healing of wounds. It protects the liver from chemical damage and is vital for bone formation. It helps to control inflammation and promotes healing. It also helps to fight and prevent the formation of free radicals. A form of zinc called zinc monomethionine ( zinc bound with amino acid methionine), sold under the trademark OptiZinc, has been found to have antioxidant activity comparable to that of Vitamin C, vitamin E, and beta-carotene. Zinc levels may be lowered by diarrhea, kidney disease, diabetes AND the consumption of FIBER, which causes zinc to be excreted through the intestinal tract. A significant amount of zinc is lost through perspiration. The consumption of hard water also can upset zinc levels. Compounds called phytates that are found in grains and legumes bind with zinc so it cannot be absorbed. Soy products directly block the absorption of zinc. Daily doses of under 100mg enhance the immune response, doses of more than 100mg can depress the immune system. For best absorption use zinc gluconate lozenges or OptiZinc. Hope this is helpful. Guest guest
Can you pls explain why Zinc must be taken with copper? Also, you say the 2 shouldn't be taken together, so I was wondering how far apart should you take them? Morning and night? Thanks.
