Doesn't it suck to spend money on a video and then not like it? I

have tried lots of videos and my conclusion is that there is probably

something out there for everyone, but nobody will like all videos. At

lot depends on your style. Are you advanced? Like to dance, or just

sweat? Want floor work, step, bands, balls, stuff like that? Prefer a

male or female instructor? Younger or more mature?

My favorite place to find new videos is www.collagevideo.com (or call

1-). They have an extraordinary amount of information --

instructor profiles, search by workout type, etc. They also have a

lot of specialty stuff -- seated exercise, pregnancy, kids,

treadmills, etc. I will make a few specific recommendations of my

favorites.

1. Viva! Latin Rhythm Workout with Elise Foss

Elise is actually an acquaintance of mine, and she's brilliant and a

lovely person. I love her workout.

2. Sansone's Walk Away The Pounds

For a no-hassles, no-frills, good way to get into (or back into) a

light exercise program, this three-tape set is really helpful. It's

pleasant, uncomplicated, and flexible depending on how much time and

energy you have. However, I found I got sort of bored quickly.

3. Jane Fonda's Favorite Fatburners

I've been doing Jane Fonda on and off since her first workout book &

video. This video compiles some of her best workouts from previous

videos that are no longer all available (or recommended!).

4. The Grind videos

I'm really embarrassed to admit this at age 33, but I love these

videos. They are not for beginners -- they're really more about silly

MTV dance moves -- but I definitely work up a sweat. I will not let

my family watch this.

I have a good step video, but I can't find it online so it's probably

too old to recommend. I know I have a Donna video, but I

doubt I've done it more than twice. I also have Yoga for Beginners,

from Living Arts. It's okay but very mellow.

I will say that, even as a former ballet dancer, I can't follow a

Abdul's Get Up & Dance video and find it incredibly frustrating to

try.
