Are there any people in this group who besides having Chari plus a syrinx, also has graves disease?I was recently dx as such.I wonder if there is any correlation between the two.If there is any-one could you tell me what treatment you receive, and also how did you detect it. Thanks. Jane in BC Canada. Please post to group as it might be informative to others. Jane.Decompressed Aug 2000.
Guest guest
Hi Jane and All, I was diagnosed with Graves disease this year after testing negative for soooo many years. I was told by my neuro and my endocrinologist that there is no association with chiari. But I would be interested to see other opinions. Guest guest
Hi All, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid disease 5 years ago after years of symptoms and no answers. None of my drs. could figure it out. Then one day I was sitting in the OB/GYN waiting room reading a womans magazine. Lo and behold there was an article on thyroid disease. I have to confess I didn't even know what your thyroid did until I started reading. The first part of the article was about hypothyroidism. I thought geez, I'm glad I don't have that! Then I read the next paragraph and wham, it described me to a T. I took the article back with me and asked the dr. if this could possibly be what's wrong with me. He said no, no way. I said pacify me and do the little blood test. He based his opinion on the fact that I had not lost any weight. Come to find out this was the ONLY symptom of hyperthyroidism I didn't have! Then, lucky girl that I am, I was finally diagnosed with ACM 5 yrs. later. The very first thing I was tested for was thyroid disease again. So many of the symptoms are the same, be it too high or too low. I don't know if the two diseases have any relationship to the other. But there sure are a lot of us on this group who have thyroid problems.
