Guest guest
The first thought i had was that he's craving lots of stimulation? Maybe that's the way he communicates? One thing that i have seen with reading of autistic children is that because they each have their own unique personality, they tend to send messages entirely their own. Hope this helps a little. Maybe try to think of ideas on how to give him the stimulation he needs? Trish > > My son is constantly biting on anything. My feet, hands, shoulder, > toys, even the dog. Guest guest
Have his teeth checked. A couple of months after a dental checkup, my son started biting himself like crazy. I thought it was related to chelation. He needed two teeth pulled and the biting subsided. Biting was the only way he could communicate the pain and I was too dumb to figure it out. > > > > My son is constantly biting on anything. My feet, hands, shoulder, > > toys, even the dog. Guest guest
Some have found magnesium and/or zinc supplementation have helped reduce biting. Zinc deficiency can cause biting/oral behavior. For my #3, it was caused by eating foods or supplements not tolerated, or yeast overgrowth. Guest guest
My OT recommended an electric tooth brush for oral stimulation. Guest guest
--- Thanks All! Maybe this is why the Babbling is limited with the Omega complete as well, I'll try the Zinc. Guest guest
Hi, My son Aidan 17 mo is very affectionate, hugs and " kisses " alot, but sometimes when he comes at me with his mouth open I dread it because I don't know if I'm going to get kissed or bitten. I try to say " no biting " calmly, because if I say ouch or jump he laughs. Anyway, my question is that sometimes he seems almost frantic in his need to bite, esp whe he's tired. I feel like he must need some sensory input, but he refuses when I offer him a teether or something to chew on, just wants to chew on me:-) Anyone have any experience with this? I don't want to discourage him from hugging, but I'm afraid he'll bite a child someday (and it hurts!). thanks Carolyn
