Diet Success

Hi

I am excited to say that Claire has now been seizure free for 4 months!

As well as the seizures stopping she is making huge progress in her

learning and socially.

I never ever thought this would be possible

She has been on the diet for 3 years and in that time she has experienced

both her best and worst times. In fact she had her worst time just a

couple of weeks before her seizures disappeared.

Anyway, I just wanted to offer some inspiration to those who are struggling

to control seizures and say that the seemingly impossible CAN become a

reality . . . miracles DO happen! Sometimes it can take time though . . .

in Claire's case 2 years 8 months.

Take care

Jill

Wonderful Jill - we have travelled a lot of that same road on here with you

guys, often at the same times over the past few yrs, and like you, our very

worst time ever came just before 's current seizure freedom. Funny old

world isn't it....

Long may it last for both of them - like - forever....

It is so good to hear of people having success with the diet. Might it be

an idea to have a sort of 'hall of fame' on the shared files where for

those who want to, you could post a picture of your keto kid (if you so

choose), with some statistics underneath which indicate eg age now, age

started diet, how long on meds before diet started, when started diet,

which sort of diet using, where in the world based, when your child

achieved success (however you choose to measure that)

Something like this might give hope to those thinking about starting the

diet, or going through a particularly bad time and thinking of giving

up. What do others think?

Hi Jill, that is such wonderful news. I am also wondering, did you do

anything different? My little Kristan has been on the diet for over

a year now and we haven't gotten control so we have decided to wean

to see if she would be having the same amount of seizures on a

regular diet, but will try the diet again if we find she was doing

better on the diet.

How old is Claire?

Satnam, mom to Kristan, 22 months

Keto kid since August 2003 and currently weaning from the diet

Just curious, is Claire off meds?

Congratulations! I know you have been through so much in the last couple of

years and I commend you for sticking to the diet.

Thanks so much for posting that encouragment. It helps a great deal

to hear about such results, especially after a while on the diet. I'm

sure you would have preferred to have had instant results (as would I,

but that's not happening), but I am so pleased to hear that Claire is

doing so well now.
