,

I read you're e-mail about ....our daughter Rebekah was seizuring when she

first arrived in our home at 5 weeks old. At the time the Dr. called it breath

holding spells....whoever heard of an infant being so angry as to hold her

breath...anyway we soon video taped her seizures and took her back to the

neurologist and she was immdediately retested and diagnosed with seizure

disorder due to brain injury. We were asked if we still wanted to go through

with the adoption.....there was no question...never considered once changing our

minds....she was ours, a gift from God and through out the past ten years we

have held on to that.because whatever God gives to us, He gives us the grace and

strength for each day. I felt a common bond when I read your post because our

'chosen' children are truly precious gifts from God!!!! Rebekah is

developmentally delayed and was much more so because of the drugs....I wished we

had been told about the diet in those early developmental years when it could

have prevented so many delays....Rebekah is physically handicapped as

well....she was walking at about 2 years...but at three broke her hip due to

borderline osteoporosis which we believe was largely caused by the drugs. She

never truly regained her physical abilities but the diet gave her the

opportunity to gain physical strength and she now walks with a walker and is

able to maneuver quite well with her wheelchair. She is talking much more and

is learning to read.....anyway I could go on.....if she could she would sing

'Jesus loves me' since she knows all the words but is unable to sing....she does

in her own way articulate phrases of the song.....

So the diet for us has truly been a miraculous gift in our daughte's

life......we have one capsule of depakote a day left of the meds and her control

gets better as the med is decreased. Amazing!

LaVerna, mom to Rebekah(10) 3 years and some on the diet....never thought we'd

last this long!
